This is the place to experiment! We can try things we wouldn't do in a challenge. Having said that, though, I actually prefer the original. I think it's beautiful, especially at full size, though looking at the thumbnail I wonder if the bottom of the gold key should be cropped. Anyhow, neat abstract

I really love this one, but since you asked for criticism: vertical objects (tall buildings, pipes, etc) can be tricky. For example, in this photo I wonder if the center pipe should be the guiding vertical -- a small rotation to the left *might* be in order. Otherwise I love the grayscale and the dof. Good choice of ordinary object!

I really like the desaturated, almost b&w quality. You've managed the light very nicely, too, as the background is not too bright. You may be seeing a similar object from me this week as I'm at my office desk and have binder clips for of my potentials. :-)

Great idea! Good lighting on the marble, maybe a little overblown behind, but since the overall photo works, it's a minor quibble. Great clarity, too.
