Brother Rockby taterbugComment: I really like the idea here - he certainly has the "air" needed for rock stardom! I think the strongest aspects of this shot are the artist and the backlighting. I think the weakest aspects of this shot is the overall lighting. IMHO, you needed some additional frontal/side lighting to provide some depth to the image. The hair is great - although there are some blown highlights there that I think with additional lighting would be minimized. I'm certainly no lighting expert (by any means), so would defer to some others on this site for advice on how to fix it, but I do think I can recognize the areas that could use some improvement. Again, I think this is a great idea and a strong subject; it just needs a little more umph. |

Blue Jayby srdanzComment: Pretty good composition here - I like the mourning dove in the background. You might consider moving the main subject out of the dead center though. There are a couple of blown out hot spots too and the focus is not quite tack sharp, but there is still a lot of merit to the shot IMHO. You've got good natural color tones and a very nice bokeh. Despite the shot's flaws, it is still very appealing visually - which to me means, that you have a very good eye for capturing "a moment". This is a rare and unique talent that is not doled out frequently. |

Journeysby zapgrafxComment: This was your first challenge entry? You should hold your head high my dear! LOL Although IMHO the backlighting is a bit overpowering, the composition is pretty good and I like the (albeit slightly washed out) tones. The boots certainly convey a feeling of being well worn - a full life, so to speak. And anytime you convey a feeling or emotion in a photograph (at least IMHO), then your shot is a success. Nice work. |

Suzan's Black Eyeby eugeneComment: This has wonderfully deep, rich color tones and I think the centered composition works well too. What hurt your score IMHO is the DOF - it was too shallow - it didn't allow for enough detail on the petals of the black-eyed susan. If more of the flower had been in focus, I think you would have scored a full point higher. It's still a really nice shot, but I think it could have been a whole lot more. |

Time for Meby CalliopeKelComment: I think the lighting here is actually pretty good. The pose is so reminiscent of Helen Hunt in the movie "As Good As It Gets," where Greg Kinnear is frantically sketching her beautiful lines. I'd have to say that you captured a great deal of innocence here too. The lines are not "mature" shall we say, yet they are still uniquely feminine and very artistically presented. Very nice job. |

Waiting for the rainby heidaComment: I love the way her hair is blowing in the wind. Such a nice subtle touch that adds a ton to the image's composition and her placement. I am (like so many others here) completely in awe of your talent and skill. Thank you for continuing to share your beautiful shots with us! |

Far Outby bclementsComment: Ya know, if the horizon had been straight, I would have given this a 10 in a heartbeat. But, there's something about this particular angle that doesn't speak to me as an artistic choice. I could certainly be wrong - wouldn't be the first time by any means! This is such a dynamically beautiful shot, that it doesn't need any "gimmicks" to make it better. The tilted horizon is a big distraction, but the shot is so good that it's tough to take many points away. 8 |

Vacation Modeby MickComment: What a flattering portrait! I love the lighting and presentation. It not only has a lot of character, it has a lot of technical photographic merit as well. Great job! |
