Perfect for a black and white study. Great rich textures. Lots of contrast. And it just has an interesting look to it. When I lived in Germany, we had a hundreds of acre sugar beet farm behind our house. Something about this takes me back to that :)

Wow! It appeals to me too. It looks old and grungy, and so soooo photogenic! I love the placement of that old wheelbarrow, it grounds the picture and gives it so much interest.

A wonderful photo for Week 1 :)

Nice job, Stan! I love your tribute to diversity, and the obvious affection these 2 have for each other comes out loud and clear in your work. I think they will love it.

Shooting ebony and ivory in one photo is not all that easy to accomplish perfect exposure. I did a wedding once where the bride was ebony and the groom was ivory, and my camera tended to have trouble figuring out how to expose both faces just right. One tended to be too dark; one too light. I ended up doing alot of layering in my processing to get them evenly exposed. So my hats off to you for doing such a beautful job with your first photo! I look forward to more!

Hi LG! I think you did a great job. I have lately really come to appreciate the abstract beauty that lines and shadows give to a photo. The black and white processing gives it just the perfect drama and contrast. Great job!! I look forward to seeing more of your stuff :)

Very VERY COOL, Doc! I am so excited to have a whole year to share and study other people's style and presentation of their artistic side. I love the geometric shapes and the way the lines in this lead you in such an interesting flow -- and I really love how you processed it with an ever-so-slight grain and grunge. It fits perfectly!

Awesome black and white imagery!

It's the first day -- you are JUST in time :) I'm so happy you are here. I'm looking forward to seeing your weekly work for a whole year! WELCOME !

This is beautiful! BEAUTIFUL! I adore how it is dark and sultry, yet the eyes: Wow! They are sparkly and pure.

I don't think I'd change what you are doing if you can turn out photos like this with such little effort - Sometimes -- trying too hard with the technicals and fancy equipment (and rules) might turn out a technically good photo -- with no soul. This: has soul!! FABULOUS!

Ohhhh Deb! I am looking so forward to a whole year of being able to share your work. I just love your take on things! You make the simple so emotive and striking! I love the high contrast and the perfect position of seeing the bird from behind (so as not to intrude on the scene), yet, being able to see his face. And I love the leading lines and texture of that brick.

WELCOME HOME !!!!! As much as I LOVED your Middle East photos -- this is like a Melethia breath of fresh air :)

This is very dramatic, Bud. I'm a huge fan of cold winter gray days. I know most people who live in cold winters must think I'm crazy -- but in "always sunny" Texas, they are a welcome treat.

I love how you've composed this, and how the bridge tapers off into the mist. Beautiful!

Wow, Mary! I think this is really cool! I can't believe they gave this a 4.6 :( Baaaaaaaad voters!

I don't think they much liked my blurry addition to my photo either. Guess you gotta love those non-artsy types too, huh??? (Ok, sometimes not!)
