I was on a drive taking pics with bmartuch around the "thumb" of MI. There was just something about the way this looked that appealed to me... The old wheelbarrow & the car hidden behind the pile of hay.

The old car peeping out from behind the bushes is such a perfect touch! An interesting scene with plenty to keep the viewer interested. There is sufficient structure, provided particularly by the vertical lines of the trees in the uppper half, to stop the detailed scene feeling over-whelmingly cluttered. In terms of the B&W conversion I feel it is very, very nearly there, but could benefit from a little more work, as on my monitor at any rate, there do not appear to be any true whites.

Very interesting shot - love the textures & detail, the path leading off to the corvette(?) just poking its nose out around the corner

Tantalizing combination of the hidden and revealed. Questions, questions everywhere. Nicely rendered. (Total sucker for that wheelbarrow).

Nice job on this Terry. I'll bet this looks cool in color also.

Nice conversion to b&W with good contrast. The scene is very cool with the old and new(if you can call that car new..lol) contrast going on. i do feel the crop is a bit tight on the wheel barrel though.

I wish there was some space beneath the wheelbarrow but other then that it's a great picture.. To each viewer it could represent a new story.. and adore the car..

I like all the textures here and the great story that this photo tells. The tonal quality is so rich and your conversion is perfect. Great job.

You managed to capture some nice textures here. The window and car give this picture a bit of a mysterious feel.

This is a cool image. I feel like I want to walk around the corner to see more of the car! Great textures and tones.

Great tonal range here. With the antique wheel barrow and the old car, you'd think you found the 1950's in MI! Good DoF too!

I love the window in this; someone is watching out of that window, watching as you shoot the scene, thinking what to do, whether to just let you get on with it, or maybe to come out, ask what you're doing . . . I can even see (in my mind's eye) the hand reaching out to open the window . . . excellent, moody scene.

Space is what I learn about with your photo. The eye can roam at will, can be guided, can be lost and found. Space is an interesting tool.

This is an awesome picture..feels like it is right out of a murder mystery movie. Great b/w and a story in itself.

Interesting photo, I hope you also got some of the great looking car in the background as well. Good details and tones in the conversion.

Agree with the other commenters, loads of stories here. My only thought is I'd have prefered a different angle of view (A step to your right and from a lower angle maybe?)

Nice combination. Hope you also made a closeup of that wonderful wheelbarrow.

The composition and contrast just nail this one. It looks like a neat place to explore.

what a cool spot - i absolutely love the little cart opposite the fancy 50s car - it's like Bonnie and Clyde could walk onto the scene at any moment

This is fun as there is so much to look at here. I have to admit about how unobservant I am - I did not notice the car at first lol.

nice image, it conjures up a sense of nostalgia. I would have cropped off the wheelbarrow and focused on the front of the car and the haystack, which is just my personal thing. But, I love the contrast in that part of the image.

I love that wheelbarrow! Works quite well in B&W, and yes, having that car peeking around the corner begs a lot of questions. Nice find, very good capture.

This "plays" like an excellent "peek" into yesteryear! I can see this on a postcard with roughed-up edges and sepia finish for effect, or maybe even a rustic "hand-tinted" approach from the 1920's or 1930's...Excellent first photo! :)

As benee said, it does make me wonder about the people behind the objects, drawing me into the image.

I think this photo tells an interesting story - makes me wonder what's been going on there, who's using the wheelbarrow for what, and is that a getaway car in the back? Intriguing!

Wow! It appeals to me too. It looks old and grungy, and so soooo photogenic! I love the placement of that old wheelbarrow, it grounds the picture and gives it so much interest.

A wonderful photo for Week 1 :)

Weo, what wonderful textures. As you know, I live for textures and this is one of those photos I wish I had taken. Black and white is wonderful here.
