The Winter Sundialby HipychikComment: Nicely processed. I assume this is HDR or at least with shadow/highlight adjustment? The light and colours is excellent and this is reflected in the high score. If anything it's the lack of a single identifiable subject that hurts this (the mast isn't strong enough as an anchor point) as our eyes are wandering all over the image. |

ONEby electrolostComment: The pose of the bird really gives it character, and the negative space is great. I'm a little perturbed by the sloped dark background, which I think draws the attention away from the bird a little, but nevertheless a great quirky shot which I like very much. |

Lone Flightby Bruce_the_RobertComment: Nice shot and composition, though I think I'd prefer the bird even closer to the bottom left of the frame - personal thing. Again, this is one of those shots which is neither sharp not intentionally blurry. If the shutter were a little longer on this you'd have captured the bird's energy wonderfully, though probably scoring lower in the process. But hey, who cares about votes, right? There's some haloing around the subject that is possibly only visible on my (rubbish) laptop screen, but a bit of careful burning can make that disappear. More USM on the bird would sharpen things up again but increase the haloing. Perhaps you could have been more daring with the contrast in the sky as well... just a thought. But well seen and captured, and a photo I like very much. |

watchingby RetroesqueComment: I love this. I don't suppose you were expecting this to score highly, but it's a great find and the processing is absolutely spot-on. I wonder if you could have introduced a little more contrast into the TV screen to highlight the reflection - I think this was missed by a lot of voters. |

Winter Wonder Landby jasonlpriceComment: Lovely winter image. I get the feeling that a bit too much USM has gone into the branches (though I could be wrong) which takes away from their delicate nature somewhat. I'm wondering if you burned the sky at the top of the image, as it seems a little unnaturally grey - although this could be highlighted by USM on the brances. The image is a busy one; perhaps you could have focused a little more on the path or the house, as currently the voters' eyes aren't drawn to either. |

Winter Waterfrontby NikonJebComment: I'm scratching my head trying to think of how you could have improved this one. The subject is lovely and the composition completely appropriate. Perhaps a wider view taking in more of the river? I'm not sure the lighting is perfect - the house doesn't attract much interest as it's shrouded largely in darkness - if it were lit up a little more I think the effect would be better. But a great winter shot - I'm quite jealous as it hasn't settled at all over here! |

Poetryby zxaarComment: Brave, fascinating, different, but in my opinion ultimately unsuccessful. The 'pastels' are fine but too pink for my liking. But with an image like this we're into properly subjective territory. Kudos for putting this shot in. |

Willie The Pimp (Harlem, 2008)by pawdrixComment: A nice street shot - the black and white could do with more contrast though IMO and perhaps a narrower DoF to give emphasis to your subject. |

A different kind of streetby KelliComment: There's real energy here and the quirky subject is great fun, though as you've probably realised, quirky doesn't normally resonate well with DPC voters. But you're awesome for submitting it! |

Revelationby aliquiComment: I like this a lot but think the tree seems a bit out of place and spoils the delicate nature of the ripples a little. I also feel a little detched from the surface of the lake and wonder if you might have taken this from a lower perspective. But a great shot - well done for having the guts to put it in a free study. |
