You see isolation, I see grace and elegance and the beauty of form. Purposefulness, even. Tones are lovely and that splash of cloud adds a lovely depth and texture.

I love the expanding sense of possibilities present in this picture. It's something about the way the bird is going upwards. And you're right, detail shouldn't be required to appreciate the message of this... To me, what the bird is saying is: "I am alone. And I am free. I'm a master of my own destiny. And there's an expanse of sky ahead, to fly through as I choose, as far as my wings will carry me."
The simplicity of the image makes the message both clear and powerful.

I like the negative space When I first looked at it for some reason I was thinking it would look better if the bird was in the corner I see someone else thought the same. I really like how the sky looks. I also like the sepia look you choose gives ia a kind of timeless look. not sure but maybe you could of got a little more detail out of the wing feathers with some more dodging but then again I see that you probally did that already.

This is beautiful, the tones are lovely and I love the pattern that the cloudy sky gives the background. It's a lovely, quiet, peaceful photo. The score you got for this is absurd but that does seem to happen.

Nice shot and composition, though I think I'd prefer the bird even closer to the bottom left of the frame - personal thing. Again, this is one of those shots which is neither sharp not intentionally blurry. If the shutter were a little longer on this you'd have captured the bird's energy wonderfully, though probably scoring lower in the process. But hey, who cares about votes, right? There's some haloing around the subject that is possibly only visible on my (rubbish) laptop screen, but a bit of careful burning can make that disappear. More USM on the bird would sharpen things up again but increase the haloing. Perhaps you could have been more daring with the contrast in the sky as well... just a thought. But well seen and captured, and a photo I like very much.

Well, you already know how I feel about this one, Rob - glad that you entered somewhere. I do like this minimalist look. It's about feeling, not about needing to see every detail.

Nice shot...beautiful. He looks lonely up there all by himself! I like a good minimal shot like this. I think the only reason it didn't score better on DPC is the lack of detail on the goose.

Great OOBIE entry. I can see why the mass crowds don't 'get' it - it's quite artsy - but obviously that's what I shoot too - GRIN!

A little more detail in the duck would have made this extra special :)

Kinda lost some detail here. Not quite a silhouette, but not a lot of clarity.

Good capture, I just wish there was more contrast.
