Fresh Snowby timfythetooComment: Brilliant photo, both in terms of the competition and as an image in its own right. Very powerful blacks and white and wonderfully composed with the leading line of dragged feet in the snow. Bleak yet somehow clean and inspiring. One of my top three in the challenge. Bumping to 10 |

a small dog with a big heartby rozComment: Rozter...I just knew that was Katie from the moment I saw it, both from her now familiar features and also from the PP treatment
You were definitely right in the fact that this shot had more of a protrait feel, although I probably prefer the action ones because whenever I think of Katie I think of her and you bounding along the trail
Cool border really helps bring this shot out |

The Ocean (Houses of the Holy-Track 8)by SouthCoastOr3gonComment: One of my three favourites of the challenge. Beautiful capture of the sea which is half way 'silky water' and half way cloud like but totally awesome
The way the clouds almost rfelect the choppiness of the water is outstanding and the rocks are big enough to provide a wonderful feature yet not too overpowering as to diminish the ocean itself
Outstanding 9 |

Black Dog by charliebakerComment: One of my three favourite pictures in the challenge. A very different and appealing interpretation of 'Black Dog' (even though I suspect the dog may not really be black in real life, but who cares it is in this image). Very nice composition with a lovely diagonal leading line. Excellent and atmospheric B&W conversion which suits the subject well - 9 |

The Lemon Songby meneleComment: One of my top three in the Challenge. Of all the depictions of 'The Lemon Song' this one stands out a mile. Wonderful vibrant yellow that gives the subject bags of punch. Tremendous sharpness (no pun intended) and great use of negative space - 9 for now may be back to bump up |

Styx - As in the riverby WalesPComment: Are you sure you dont mean Styx as in the 1980's satin-suited pomp-rock band (come on Ron you are of the age and I can just see you with a lighter held high swaying to 'Lady')
Anyway, back on subject, having read the hassle you had with the flash I am pretty impressed that you got something as good as this, nice relaxed natural and regal pose and great sharpness and lighing on the face
Love colours too, which are soft without losing any of their power
Nice job |

The Lady of the Houseby MelethiaComment: Well done on getting such a great shot of a recalcigent poseur
Actually he looking away really adds to the haugtiness and regality of the breed
Super sharpness
You would have got bonus marks if you had entitled it
'Mildly annoyed kitty ready for a totally ignore your lens'
Terrific H&S on the eyes
Great job

Milly Graceby SandyPComment: Congratulations on the top ten finish.
A real 'classic' pet portrait that I could imagine sitting in the front window of a photography studio for passers by to see and admire
Very clever composition and the low key really helps to accentuate the strength of colours in Milly Grace's fur. Added to which there is a softness that seems empathetic with the personality of the dof
As usual focus and dof bang on to the millimeter
Great job |

Ginoby RetroesqueComment: Lisa
Lovely pet portrait. Superb clarity on the face and I like the DOF that you used which accentuates the snout. As ever a great B&W conversion
Its a shame that your friend had to hold the dog as it does make the background a little busy, but this is just a very minor point on what is a superb image |
