 This is Styx. He has been a member of the family for almost 4 years. As any cat he can be demanding and indecisive about going out or coming in. However, all in all, he's okay... for a cat.

The portrait was taken on the dining room table. There is a black sheet draped across a backing of foam board and stretched off the table. I finally got Styx to relax and to stay for a few shots. I used the on camera flash and an off camera flash to my left. One problem I had is that when the on camera flash was set to commander mode it would double flash, even though I had the modeling flash set to off. The double flash caused Styx to close his eyes in every picture. So I set the on camera to TTL and set the off camera to SU-4. That seemed to work although the off camera flash seemed to be powered quite low. Kore experimentation is required.

Love the name, although I have to say I was like Jon, the band was the first thing that came into my mind when I saw STYX lol. Again, excellent job on the lighting. Love the gaze. The bell is a nice touch too.

Are you sure you dont mean Styx as in the 1980's satin-suited pomp-rock band (come on Ron you are of the age and I can just see you with a lighter held high swaying to 'Lady')

Anyway, back on subject, having read the hassle you had with the flash I am pretty impressed that you got something as good as this, nice relaxed natural and regal pose and great sharpness and lighing on the face

Love colours too, which are soft without losing any of their power

This cat knows he's cool, you can see it in the eyes. Nice detail and texture, good clear eyes.
