 Taken at a local golf course early in the morning as it was snowing. Gray and dreary morning. You can still see the colors in the trees.

RAW conversion (no saturation tweaks), levels, contrast mask, selective color to tweak the whites only, NI, selective blurring, crop, resize, USM, border.

Excellent composition and contrast treatment. I actually has the look of a great B&W... The little color there is actually enhances the image. The shape of the trees focuses the interest on the figure, and the trail in the snow adds just the perfect finishing touch. 10 from me and my personal Yellow ribbon.

Brilliant photo, both in terms of the competition and as an image in its own right. Very powerful blacks and white and wonderfully composed with the leading line of dragged feet in the snow. Bleak yet somehow clean and inspiring. One of my top three in the challenge. Bumping to 10

Very nice B/W presentation. This scene works well for the challenge. I know it's a minor thing, and rarely one worth commenting on, but your choice of border gives the photo a nice break from the voting page without being overbearing.

Love the high contrast and the fleckled texture of the snow-laden trees. The focal point of the child works well. Composition not entirely balanced for me but does work.
