Cotton Eyesby IsabellSchatzComment: nice, however generally I am not a very big fan of ringlights. the sweater reminds me one of the best Anne Leibovitz's photos of Susan Zontag |

Beeby CWelchComment: I haven't seen the version before you adjusted contrast, but it is definitely overdone now :). You have to be very careful with contrast adjustments, I learned the hard way to simply stay away from the contrast slider. Tweaking levels or curves usually (always, if you know how to operate them :) gives much better results. The most serious problem of this shot now is the oversaturated red channel, so the texture of the flower petals is obliterated. Maybe it happened when you boosted the contrast, or maybe it was like this from the start, I don't know. Even if the latter. if the original is in RAW you may try to salvage this by partially desaturating it before conversion to JPEG.
i hope you don't mind my blabbering Courtney, I am just trying to help... and thank you for your comment! :) |

Amid the Ashesby BradComment: hey I know this photo! :) it's still very good, but it is one of those (relatively rare) cases when I think it is better left in color. In the color version the contrast between the blackened sculpture and the surrounding is much more stark. JMO, of course. |
