Not from a lift. We held my brother's memorial on a ridge between two runs. During the proceedings (a little after them actually) I turned around and saw this lone skier swooping down. Basically I thought it was the spirit of my brother, so I made a series of exposures of him carving along.

Thanks for the wonderful votes and comments.

WELL I COME BACK TO THIS ONE MATE AND DECIDED IT DESERVES TO HAVE ONE OF MY NEW SHERPET JEWEL AWARDS

I LOVE THE WAY THE TREES ARE VERTICAL AND THE SHADOWS ARE HORIZONTAL AND THEN THE WHITE SNOW WITH THE SOLITARY SKIER.
POWERFUL TO ME AS WELL AS A FEELING OF A WHERE'S WALLY DUE TO THE TREES AND THE MIGHTY FEELING ONE GETS FROM THEM AND THEN AFTERWARDS ONE SEES THE LONELY SKIER... LOVE IT A FAVOURITE AND ALSO NOW A SHERPET JEWEL IMAGE FROM SHEZ XOX

Bravo! So glad this made it into the ribbons. Wonderful composition, the verticals and horizontals so powerful. The tiny lone skier in the immensity of nature. Even in the saddest of moments there is beauty to be seen.

Oh! I rarely look at challenges I haven't entered/voted. So when something good happens I often miss it. This is something good! It's a very fine picture indeed. I'd have given you a big score and a gushing comment, Robert. It's such an unusual, clever photograph, and quite beautiful. Other-worldly, in a quiet way. A great thing to remember this special moment by. Thank you.

What an amazing capture. I could look at this for hours and find something new within the snow, trees, or the long cast shadows. You seem to capture this in perfect timing with the skier and the sun. This is a wall hanger! Great photograph.

Can not say just how beautiful this is. Such lovely composition, and love all the detail in the shadows of the trees. Wish there was slightly more contrast (but that's minor). A stunner of an image -- one of my very rare 9's.
