Challenge: Double Take III (Basic Editing)
Collection: Challenges
Camera: Canon EOS-5D
Lens: Canon EF 70-200mm f/4.0L USM
Date: Jun 3, 2010
Aperture: f/8
ISO: 200
Shutter: 1/250
Date Uploaded: Jun 8, 2010

Processing was very simple; From RAW thru ACR to CS3, a touch of Topaz detail in negative settings to smooth it out, a hint of hue/sat, adamus sharpening.

Some who saw the image earlier suggested the composition was too static; this illustration shows why I don't think it is; it's a classic triangular composition overlaid on a layered one, and I think it works very well.

Bear, I just love the way you always look for classic but overlooked ideas in photography.

I learned from this! Thanks!

If you were a Mexican wrestler, you would be "El Gran Orso Didactico" ;)

That 5D is so smooth. Great stuff!

WOW - kind of reminds me of a Hopper painting. He did some sailboat images that kind of remind me of this. I didn't vote but this is fab, Rob. I'd have given this high marks for sure. Congrats.

Counting my current entry in "Boats". 4 of my last 6 entries have had boats in 'em. It's that time of year, don'tcha know?

At least these skiffs aren't my usual skiffs on the Herring River, like the HDR pair; these are down-cape 12 miles or so at Hemenway Landing on Nauset Marsh, Eastham. Same location as "Unbearable Lightness of Being" and "Beached Skiff", actually...

There is something so odd and wonderful about this image. It looks more like graphic art than a photograph. The featureless sky and water, the bold horizontal lines, the splash of color. Front page.
