Oops, I did it again!
When this challenge came up, I looked through the challenge archives and noticed that I won the blue in "Flora III". And I said to myself : "I must win this, too (or at least ribbon anyhow). And I don't want to shoot a Calla, this time, that would be too easy". Goes to show what you can achieve by will power.
Took me about 3 hours to get the light right, the focus still isn't perfect, frontmost petal is slightly OOF. Another 4 hours of processing different versions. Eternal.

I have to say that it has been wonderful to see this on the front page every day when I visit - it has been a real pleasure to look at, and I will miss it when its gone. Thanks!

I think you've got far too many ribbons if you have to check online which challenges you got them for ;-) Just kidding, congratulations on this one. Great shot.
this is such a stunning flower shot .. love the dramatic contrast between the colourful flower and the black background .. the lighting is perfect .. :)
ps .. i should take a leaf out of your book oliver ..
next time i enter a challenge i'll tell myself that i will win or at least ribbon .. be great if it was that easy .. think your ability got you the blue rather than willpower tho .. :)
f22 and probably across the room a bit. Was wondering how you got such excellent DOF on this. Congrats on the ribbon, a killer score, and a really, really good flower picture! (And I do agree with the commenter who said it would stand alone just fine without the water drops.)
Perfectly sharp and crisp throughout with nice color. The browns are especially rich. Lighting is very nice, too. Well, heck, technicals are just outstanding, period!
Crisp, and professionally done, quality is written all over this. Its refreshing to see an entire flower in focus, i personally don't enjoy the ones with the very shallow dof. Well done.
High-end stock photography quality photo. Definitely worthy of a print. So clear and crisp. I only wish the background wasn't so black, but softer more subdued shade. The border is nice and not distracting, but could have been a different colour.
Eternal
