Hello! You must be Jubei Kibagami registered in a new name? I loved the image you uploaded back in 2004, looked identical to this one, so I'm thinking this must be an adjacent frame? Lovely!

of the best captivity shots I've seen. I normally hate zoo shots b/c they feel cheap, like shooting fish in a barrel, but this image goes a step further. We see the zebra's camouflage within a man-made environs, which is both though evoking as well as visually stimulating. Coupled with the down-trodden look of the animal, I just think this image has a lot of depth and so deserving of top 25 billing. fav'd

Ahhh Yomi! I was just about to look for the VERY similar image and say, I remember this shot from Jeremy West several years ago - then I researched and - it's YOU! I always liked the image, Jeremy. Still works for me, in fact.

Back for comment and bump. This is just an awesome job of using lines to create tension and draw the eye to your subject. B&W works perfectly here.

My fingers are tired but had to comment on this photograph. What can I say other than amazing lines and very nice B&W conversion. However I do wonder if cropping the right side and not having the foreground wall would have been better. Nice shot.

Fantastic - you've hit on the perfect background for a zebra shot. Black & white is absolutely the right way to go here and seeing the flow of the fence to provide a visual stop on the right is inspired. A pattern shot par excellence.

I think this is just fabulous. The compostion & DOF choice are great. I'm trying to figure out if it is my monitor that is a bit too bright, but the image does look it would benefit from a slight reduction in brightness. I am not letting that affect my score though, as it is likely me!

Good catch! It's all about the stripes. I wish the front fence were a touch sharper. The b/w treatment works well in this instance.

03/13/2009 09:39:44 PM
sharp, almost painfully so. The near fence and the far fence mess with my eyes, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Good use of desaturation.

Wonderful, wonderful! Beautifully composed and the exposure is spot on! He looks like he's so misunderstood - like he's been placed with these lines to feel at home, but they just dont 'get' him at all.

I understand why this is your favourite - it is exceptional!
