For some reason, I'm very drawn to this. Motion with the birds juxtaposed with the inaction of the guy on the bench, plus an interesting drama in the background. This one has it all, perfect choice of black and white - awesome tonal range. Nailed it. 10

The motion blur is captivating. I like that the ad of the people in the back are as jumbled as the birds moving around yet the man on the bench is most still, like a traveler through time. Oh and those photographers in the window reflecting back to the viewer, a reflection of you no doubt.

Blurry, but also interesting to look at. Kind of neat that it was right in front of a camera store. The image in the upper left looks like a giant reflection.

Interesting sense of motion from this one, almost ephemeral. But the composition feels like it could be stronger.

Yeah.. Nice. Love it. Obviously not a DPC-friendly photo because it's not tack-sharp, but this tells me a story. I find this to be more interesting to look at than many technically perfect shots in this challenge.

Nice. Very nice. The ascending spirit of the man on the bench is clever, but it's the background details (or lack of details) that I like best. An embrace? A hasty shopper? The wonderful photographer in the window, snapping the lovers. And the ascending man is apart from it all. Above it all. 8.

I like the blur of the birds... I'm not sure about the background of photographers beign included. I would have liked it better with just hte man and bench and birds, I think. But... It's a fascinating image as is... and I like the BW.

At first, I thought that it would have been better if one bird really stood out sharply, but then I looked a bit closer and realized that the birds are not to be used as an individual subject but rather as a group, so if one stood out from the group, it would draw attention elsewhere. Because they are all moving, they make up a single entity in the pic. They provide the contrast to the second group of pigeons which are in flight.

The slight motion captured in the man allows him to be identified more with the group of pigeons on the ground, milling about rather than moving upwards.

There's more there too! The couple on the bench is not part of the group, but share the nature of the birds on the ground as merely sitting enjoying the moment. Additionally, there's a person moving swiftly past in the BG who identifies with the 'rising' birds. Further, the couple on the far left is faceless and disassociated, but it is curious that it looks like she is standing about 3 inches above the ground, in thin air as it were. Plenty of interest there.

This is less 'visual' than many of the other pics, but there is so much contained in it that it really is of a rare sort. A gem indeed.

I've got a pic in mind that I think will get the blue, but it's barely a patch on this one in terms of sheer depth.

Beautiful combination of still and movement! I like this one very much. The man looks like he's really interacting with the pidgeons, and the backdrop, the people not paying attention, works well.

feeding or sleeping? great shot with flying birds, passing people, and still birds. Like a sentinel, the old man sat on the bench, slumped forward slightly. His dark coat and pants a contrast to the white bench, the pigeons flew around him expectantly as people rushed by in their daily tasks. He did not know how long he had sat, but still he sat and waited. It would come. He knew it would.

I'm getting the impression this was shot from a moving car...I think it would be more effective if the stationary object had survived without the motion blur it somewhat minimizes the pigeon's flight, which I presume was what you're title refers.
