Cute but there's a lot going on here, the grass being so sharp is distracting, if there was a more selective DOF it would pop more I think.

Oh so cute, adorable chick. Sunlight is a bit harsh but not much you could do about that other than shoot it at a different time of day and then you probably would not get this great moment.

using existing light, and not wanting to disturb the subject is always a challenge. just a little more light on mom would have really elevated this image IMO

Very cool capture! Mom's face is a bit dark; I'd dodge the shadows and cathclight in her eye, and maybe desaturate her blue/cyan hues to bring out her expression better.

Touching image. I wish you'd processed Mom's eye a bit to bring it out more.

Also, I'd have cropped off the right side, getting rid of that black triangle up top and letting Mom look into the frame more.
