What's a lil sensor dust in an image like this but a distinguishing mark of an honest capture. ;-) Great photo!

Mamma mía!! A blue ribbon! And a second ribbon in a week! wow! Thank you all for commenting and scoring! Wish I could have cleaned out that sensor dust, But I couldnt :) Didnt want to crop the black part of it either, And I have outtakes where I have the model looking up in the waterfall But on that picture the waterfall looked blurry, So I chose this one. Thanks again! I´m gonna have a bottle of Lýsi to celebrate! :D

04/20/2004 08:34:31 PM
Every now and then, I come across a photo that speaks, and this is one of them. Strength dominates this image, as mother nature is full of incredible forces. Man is not even a challenge for the strength of nature. The diminuitive size of the man in this photo accents that theme quite well. This is a GREAT shot.

I'm trying to get away from commenting on technicals/technique, but this photo begs me to ask a question and make a suggestion as well. I don't know if this is just a candid shot of this man, but IF this person is posed for you in this scene, why did you choose to have him facing to the left rather than facing and looking up at/into the waterfall? Personally, I think this would make it even stronger.

Regardless, this is my 'best of show' in this challenge... Kudos on a great shot.

I love this image! The addition of the man really puts into the perspective the magnitude, strengh and power of the waterfall. Can't think of any way to improve upon it. This is one of my favorites and I hope you get a ribbon - 10

Very good perspective. Maybe just a little underexposed. There's a black dot about 2/3 of the way up on the left that is a bit distracting. 6

This is a very good image - your composition and crop is excellent. The one hting that throws me off a bit is the plainness of that guy in the corner, which slightly detracts from the feeling of "strength."

I love this photo, the slight color in the man's face really sets it apart. What a great contrast between the power of the falls, and the transient lasting impact of a single person. I think this will definitely ribbon.

04/15/2004 02:49:33 AM
The little black dot on the left is a little distracting and I probably would have cropped it out, but this is a very fine shot.

04/14/2004 11:03:25 PM
Wow... this is a really interesting composition. I like it. I really like the use of b/w as well. You do have some hot spots on the water that you might try to fix by dodge/burn on your final image.

Edit: From my laptop those hot spots looked worse. On my CRT - it's not a problem.

This is a simple image but quite effective. The man in the foreground makes the shot, of course, and provides perspective for the falling water. Well exposed. Well composed. Nicely reflective of the theme. 10
