 Well some may think this does not meet the challenge, but I like it, and decided to go with it.

This idea came into mind as soon as I read the challenge description. "Create a photo in which a single line of some sort is the main subject".

I went to Bunnings, (A huge store we have here in Australia where one can but anything) and brought some twisted rope, and then set about arranging it into this coil, with the help of many pins at the back, to hold it all together.

I then got Peter to take me down to one of the fishing jetties we have here at Caloundra, and placed it on the weathered wooden planks on the jetty.

I know the gaps between the jetty planks are showing dark lines, but I am going with this image, as it is the best out of all the one I did.

It suits the theme, and I decided to go with my gut feeling on this one.

A CIRCLE IN THE SQUARE - THAT IS THE FIRST SHAPES THAT CATCH MY EYE. NEXT IS THE CURVES AND COILS OF THE ROPE. AND THEN FINALLY THE DETAILS IN THE TEXTURE OF THE ROPE AND THE WOOD. WHAT A GREAT COMPOSITION THAT HIGHLIGHTS SHAPES, LINES, AND TEXTURE.

Well done, Shez! I don't know about down under, but here state side a rope like that is called a line. So it is perfect for the challenge, and it seems almost everyone agreed with me. Nice simple image with the very special tuft to top it off. With a score like that you should have been in the top ten. Too bad, but still a very good placement. Congratulations.

Lovely textures and control of the light.

You could probably sell this in yacht chandlers all over the world as a print : )

Almost hypnotic - I find it easy to come back and look again and again to appreciate the geometry, sharpness, tone balance, and nice composition. If up to me, this would ribbon for sure.

This is wonderful! The grain of the wood and that single round hardware add to the texture of the perfectly coiled rope. Really a good setup. Well done.
