Challenge: Puzzle Macro II (Advanced Editing VII*)
Collection: Challengers
Camera: Canon EOS-450D Rebel XSi
Lens: Canon EF 180mm f/3.5L Macro USM
Location: At my home, from a collected piece of dried fungi.
Date: Nov 18, 2008
Aperture: 11.00
ISO: 200
Shutter: 1/8
Galleries: Macro, Textures
Date Uploaded: Nov 18, 2008

One will never guess what this is, as it looks like wasp nest, or reptile skin. It is actually the top side of the fungi, that grows on tree trunks in a half circle in layers. My friend was bush walking a few months ago, and gave me the entire branch/trunk, with all the dried fungi still attached.

I love the detail colors and textures. This is about the size of a match box in area.

Enjoy.....

Very disappointed with this one, and I THINK I need some time out.....

I think it's pretty cool... gave it a five because it's not really greatly in focus, but is still very interesting and well composed. I feel your pain, though, Shez... my "Benches" shot is at 4.x... *sigh*

I definitely thought that this was reptile skin. It has great texture.

Rubber? Sneakers? Cool patterns. Uneven lighting due to subjects surface.

Reptile skin?
Strange.
Needs something for a focal point.

A stumper, so meets the challenge. Soft focus detracts from an otherwise well executed and presented image.

You stumped me.

The texture is good, but composition leaves little to be desired.

Macro is always tricky making sure the focus (DOF) is spot on. I find a remote release shutter is best as pressing the on body shutter button causes a lot of movement in a tight shot.

No idea what this is, but it reminds me of snake skin.

The skin of an animal, a snake or lizard? Or maybe a wasp nest. I wish it were more in focus beacuse it looks cool.
