Challenge: Reflections Without Mirrors (Classic Editing)
Camera: Canon PowerShot G2

Shutter: 1/25

These are real bowling pins, on a real bowling lane, lit by a real pinsetter. I wanted better lighting, but I don`t have the white umbrella in my back pocket yet... I learned a lot this week, again...

nice... this works well as a b&w ... I bet you've received a bunch of comments about "how it would look better in color", but screw them.. its a good shot! -8

10 pins for a 10 score
10/06/2002 11:31:00 AM
This is well executed and technically perfect in my opinion. The only thing it lacks for me is appeal. good job though. 7, just-married

Very well done black and white image with good contrasts. Simple but strong composition which draws the eye right to the head-pin.

Even though the "interest" level for me is on the lower side, this is a wonderful photo with great reflections. Great focus, DOF. 9 Swash

Pinball – wizard shot :o) Love it, great shot – I presume this shot is somehow related to the other pinball shot (just curious) – I like this shot (only slightly) better than the other, mainly because the symmetry adds to the overall composition… (10)

None of our bowling alleys in our city have such polished white pins and the machine lined them up so perfectly with the logos on the pins all facing the same way. LOL Nice quality picture.
10/01/2002 02:39:00 PM
absolutely love it...almost like an optical illusion...the pins seem to shift sometimes

very nice job!

Nice photo - well lit/exposed, focused, etc. I can't help thinking an action shot wilth bowling ball and flying pins would have been so cool though. Still worth a 7 in its tranquil form.
10/01/2002 10:03:00 AM
is it straight? it looks tilted to me

hmmm... very symmetric (on the horizontal AND vertical). The effect works nicely for this picture. The lighting is great. I love how the front pin is highlighted and the rest gradate to dark grey.
