Oooh oooh! Missed this one. What wonderful texture and detail~~ I really like this alot. The filter you chose suits it perfectly. Nice use of negative space as well. The crop, nearly cutting it in half is one of my favorites whether it be a face or a plant.

Very cool. I know I voted but I must not have been giving comments that day. Sometimes I get overwhelmed and just vote without comments. (!)

I've gotten hooked on shooting flowers -- that could be a bad/good thing!

I love photographing flowers, even though I haven't done many. I have a long list of specific flowers I want to photograph in the spring and summer though :)

Greetings...

I like the composition here quite a bit and wouldn't change anything about it. Everyone can always ask you to show them something that isn't shown, and I don't usually agree with that. When I look at a photo, I ask myself 'What is the photographer showing me?' I never ask 'Why isn't the photographer showing me this?' I accept what I see as what I'm supposed to see rather than it being a mistake of sorts. The problem you often encounter is that your viewer will have preconceived notions about what something looks like. When this is the case, some of them will ask you why you didn't show them what they expected to see. In this particular case, including the rest of the leaf and some of the stem would completely change the composition and theme of this photo. Your 'texture' would lose fighting ground to shape. You would be introducing more symmetry, which is not bad, but not necessarily good either.

My preconceived notions of this flower have nothing to do with shape or texture. I see death. This is a funeral flower. I think this lily is the evil nemesis of its relative Calla lily. To me, both are funeral flowers, but the peace lily is more descriptive and more associative with the subject. There is no sensuality in the peace lily.

It's a beautiful photograph and your score reflects an overall voter satisfaction with your work...

:)

I love the color tones in this one, and the composition is very graceful.

While I normally like sepia tone pictures, I think it detracted from this one.

As a friend recently said, "I've never met a diagonal I didn't like." Aside from that, this would be among my favorites in ANY category! Composition, exposure, le tout ensemble - lovely!

Beautiful lighting and tones. I really like the contrast of the black background.

This colour doesn't help the texture IMHO.. but the detail and slight imperfections are great

Lovely. Only thing that I don't love is the highlight. It seems to be in an odd inappropriate place somehow.

Nice textures in the petals, but the center part (pistol?) is flat in appearance. Nice overall composition and use of negative space!

Like what you've done with this photo. I usually find Anthurium's boring, but this is nicely done.

Tonality reminiscent of Mr Setzler - and a capture of a quality of waxiness in that leaf that wouldn't be out of place in his work either. I don't know that allowing the curl of the leaf to drift out of frame bottom left is so reminiscent though, and vertainly not a choice I would have made. Strong feeling that the composition would be more harmonious if that stem and the rest of the leaf were included, so that they didn't appearto be emerging separately into view. That said, great meeting of the challenge, and great feel and life to the photography - kind of orthodoxly classical, if you understand. A great example.

This lovely antherium is beautifully photographed and nicely framed. It is such a colorful flower, I wish you had done it in full color. Nevertheless, it gets full marks for photographic excellence.

This is wonderful. Good focus, lighting and composition. Love the tones of the shot. For this one, I think the border really finishes it off nicely.

beautiful work. I love the toning on this one. The composition with the diagonals also makes this strong for me. I like the warm feeling and the texture is also a very strong element here. excellent photo :)
