Incredible closeup, very in your face type shot. Incredible display of textures in the bird, from the soft feathers , the roughness of the black forehead to the smooth texture of the beak. "10"

Great picture, I like the fact that I can see the pores on the beak and by the eyes. This should do very well in the challenge.

Excellent close-up, great definition, detailing, colour. Long lens or patience? I actually think it's too close to do very well here - the real grace in the animal is lost when you get so close, and they start to look more like the bruisers that they are - and ugly don't do so good on dpc. Top woork though.

+ Excellent and interesting way to show textures (is this a crop or did you really get so close with your camera?). Nice framing, great sharpness and colours.

Has to be telephoto...no swan would let you that close.

This super closeup is a great take on the challenge. A catchlight would be perfection, but the capture of textures is beautifully done. Hope we read in your notes what (who) this bird is!
