Wow! Thanks you guys so much for the votes. I cant believe it.

This wasnt a double exposure. It was made with a cyborg mask I made in photoshop aligning it in photoshop to my face. Then printed it out.

This was carefully stuck to my face only partly on my rightside. The lighting setup needed to be mainly from my left side to create the darker blended right side.

The lighting was a bowens 500watt flash head fired into an umbrella. I deliberately underexposed so as to keep my right side dark.

In photoshop I brought out the mask. Burnt and dodged it with curves and hue/sat.

The right side had many curves layers and, slight burn on the neck. hue sat. USM USM and then the all important
NEATIMAGE. I did this to create an artificial skin like a Cyborg would have. It made it nice an waxy.

Anyway thank you all very much for the kind comments! Cheers.

wow i love this picture! i like the use of USM and neatimage for the skin, it works very well. The skin does like semi-fake, great job.

its a fav of mine. I have an idea though. try blood effects and makeup on right side of face to make it look like your skin was torn .

Visually very striking...

But: It seriously looks like the whole thing was just photoshopped, by using an image from Terminator 2. (I'll have to take your word on that I guess). Even if the technique you quote is real, I still have some thoughts over whether it is Okay to print out a photoshopped image, and then to photograph the printout. This is very much an indirect way of photoshopping, not so?

Forgive the negative note - you achieved a striking result. Just wondering...

congratulations - awesome image! I bet it is a double exposure, one of the model (photog) with a single light from the left, and another of a "robot" with a single light from the right. But the execution is flawless!

This is one image that stands above all others in execution and technique. By employing the first zone to aid with the effect the image maintains and holds viewer attention as it makes the eyes jump from dark side to light. Bumping way up. Good luck.

the skin and eye of the human component of the cyborg are actually more interesting than the robotic side. is this your fantasy though? indestructible aspect is cool, but the red eye will scare away the fairer sex. well done all the way around.

very interesting shot. usually the neatimage overdose is a certain low scorer but here it is very well used, adding that needed waxy look. I like the extra sharp focus of the eye as well as the look & feel of it. Really fantastic shot. A sure ribbon winner. 10, Good luck!

Double exposure with a terminator bust? I hope so at least, because if it is a combination of two images it will be disqualified. After staring at it too long the black seam between the two part starts to look odd. I think that it is just a little too abrupt of a transition to total black on the forehead. Overall it is pretty good though...as long as the exposures were done in camera...

Totally black picture is no picture because black is not a picture subject, picture is to tell a story, but black is good as a shadow in picture not more than 3-20% of picture for me, if black goes over 50% it is not a picture in my mind, but portrait and idea is really good so you get 5 points

p.s. This black background is getting really boring here on this sight
