A worshipper at a Buddhist temple. I captured him just before his prayers were over. What captured me was the quality of the light that penetrated the space along with the smoke from the incense.

Yes. The smoke is real ;)

This is a timeslice of life as is rarely seen, and will probably never experience first-hand.
Wonderful shot!

To me this photo has gone beyond photography into pure art. It is really beautiful... in the eyes of this person anyway.

I enjoy the strength of the different areas of colour in this image. They really stick out quite well against their dark surrounding without taking away too much attention from the praying men(?). The smoke from the cattle and the way it gives the sunrays this atmospherical aspect makes the shot perfect.

of all the "surviving" photos from your Japan trip (why did u remove them? lol), this thumbnail caught my fancy the most. I like the colours, and the natural light shining through the smoke. However, just one tiny complaint is that the photo looks like it has gone through too much NR, a little plasticky especially on the person's skin and the big urn in front? Just my personal opinion tho, and I still like it. cheers!

Actually there was no NR software used here. NI wasn't even part of the equation. I think it's just a bit oversharpened. Thanks Shin!

Really amazing picture!!
..with the amount of light seen it seems it must have been a difficult shot to execute as well!!

This has so many layers to it. I could really study it for a long time. Great light and shadow. The colors are in all of the right places. The figure amidst the smoky light - WOW - adding to favs.

beautiful find with the smoke and light. looks like you have some effect of the shadows/highlight filter. i've uploaded some stuff recently that has it too. the funny thing is that some people really like the way it looks. i'm not one of them but at least it is a way of salvaging a photograph even if it makes it look a little bit like a cartoon/painting.
