My divorce decree and our wedding rings. I expect about a 5.1 for this but it's my catharsis. :)

Had a feeling. :) Higher than you expected! Congrats on your "Catharsis" - make sure you add that to the Random Word thread. :)

One of the more interesting interpretations of independence. The ring more in the foreground is so out-of-focus that it is distracting. DOF with these macro shots are always a challenge.

I gave this a 7. I like the black and white nature and the extreme shallow DOF. Just because I'm fortunate enough not to have been through this I can still understand how aspects of the psychological rollercoaster of relationship breakdown can feel like regaining an independence of sorts. I think it's a brave and personal picture and a very valid interpretation.

b&w and composition work well for this. the focus is a little shallower than i would have chosen, but not off-putting. the out-of-focus ring is a little distracting though, where it sticks up so much, and is in the foreground but still out of focus.

would have preferred both rings to have been in focus

DOF too shallow for my taste, I would have liked to see the whole sentence "Petition for divorce" and the rings in focus but other than that, pretty good. I especially like the tones in the image.

the out of focus ring is distracting in my opinion

This is depressing, but that aside, the center object is too out of focus to tell waht it is for sure, and that takes away from the shot.

Congradulations on the good shot, sorry about the other thing though.

This shot would have been stronger if both of the rings were in focus.

Whew...Excellent concept. The composition doesn't quite do it for me.
