One of the few times I rarely use my 18-55. Guess it's not that much of a junker! Eh, it'll serve whatever purpose it has for 2 more weeks while I await for my Tokina 12-24 to come in ^_^

The lovely model Blythe is a great woman. She is a joy to shoot, and I plan on working with her again very soon. Not exactly sure how this will go as far as voting, but it was one of my favorite images from the set, and well to me, my independence allows me to shoot Art like this.

I'm willing to bet it will get voted down because shes too "dark" or something stupid like that lol. This is art, what I do is art, and while this site IS a technical first/creativity second site, I fear it will take a hit. But oh well, what can I say, I love natural light! If you are curious to see the rest of the set, feel free to send me a PM.

I love you all!

I liked the peeling paint in contrast to the beauty of the model. I am a little uncomfortable with how dark she is as I found the bright window was taking my focus off the model. (you knew someone had to say something stupid like that huh!) :)

darn.. didnt vote on this one but wouldve surely scored you high for not shooting a flag or a bald eagle. love the lighting and how they make her contours flow. keep up the good work.

ps-have you ever read Ayn Rand's definition of photography? its quite interesting.

I like this shot a lot. Not for it's nudity but more so because it stands out above everyone else because it's different. A personal preference I guess. I hope the soft focus is intentional. The curves of her body against the geometric forms of the window sash and the trees in the horizon create a sense of struggle. Quite exquisite.

There is untold independence in the lovely human body. A pleasant, sensual and evocative image to add interest.

on the 100% crop, does it show a creepy old man staring out the window of the building next door? :)

the title/subject matter works well. i'm just not sure about the setting, an open window, though i do like the strong backlight.

I love fine art nudes and shoot a lot of them, but this one doesn't feel "arty" to me. I think it is hard to please people when it comes to this subject matter. Because I am a woman, I look at nudes much differently than a man would. The shoes make it feel "playboyish" it me. And keep in mind this is totally a personal preference. I aslo think her pose gives the same feel. It could be that this is what you are going for and if so great. I like to see nudes be about shape and form and the beauty of the human body and less about sexy. However, I think many people on the site are offended that someof us choose to shoot nudes and I think that it is great that you shoot what you want. Keep at it!

Don't usually score nudes well but this is nicely done. Exp., pose, etc. really like the angle. 9.

...or maybe just a bad excuse to come up with the right idea?

Hehe. Maybe you can make her take her clothes of again and hold a wooden stick for the wood challenge.

Great work but a few little things spoil the image IMHO those are the dark ceiling area this really distracts from the models face and perhaps a little overexposed.

Amazing! This was the exact same thing that popped into my head when I read the challenge topic also! LOL

I find this a bit to awkwardly posed almost unconfortable. If she would turn more towards the window and lean against it that would feel more natural. Or not ;-)

The glare coming through the window is too harsh for my taste. The silhouette is ok, but the angle seems a bit awkward as does her pose. Her face is totally lost in shadow, which might have been your intent, but I find it less appealing than if you could have seen more of it with ligh hitting her face.

I agree with you. That is how I saw this challenge, freedom to shoot whatever I wanted. I like this image and your angle, but maybe bumping up the contrast just a little would have given it that little extra.

A good portrait will always get a high score from me. You will receive flak from the prudes about the nakedness of the subject but, this is a great portrait with good lighting! Would like to have seen a more contrast - 8

umm....wow....great model, great shot....you are going to get slammed probably on the fact that "it doesn't fit this challenge," but you get a 9 from me.....way to step out and try something a bit controversial.

i don't know that you should have added the freedom = independence part to the title. i actually 'get' your point about how this shot says 'independence'. nice image, the light outside is a bit overpowering, but adds to the mood in some way too.
