Thanks! I realize it would've been more appropriate for the fauna challenge. (Well, how was I to know that would've been the topic for this week?)Anyway as an explanation, I don't think I would've been able to get this relaxed shot were it not for the heat in Texas. It was running away from me all the time, but was hot one afternoon and didn't feel like moving because it was obviously tired from the heat. The challenge guidelines said something about the effects of climate on the environment, and this is the environment! Jitams

This is an incredible photo of a squirrel. And the title makes you understand his expression - whew, it's hot!! The poor little guy is just plain old tuckered out!! The detail you have achieved on this squirrel is excellent, and I like the DOF!!!
04/20/2003 05:11:20 PM
Great shot but it should be under the Fauna challenge or another animal challenge.
04/20/2003 09:51:39 AM
Good use of the rule of thirds. Nice composition color and clarity
04/20/2003 12:05:19 AM
Thats a cool shot. Hard to see the 'weather' though
04/19/2003 09:36:29 PM
Will he come back for the "Fauna" challenge? Beautiful detail and color. Fits the challenge?
04/19/2003 07:46:56 PM
This would have been great for next week's challenge, but it just doesn't say weather to me.
04/19/2003 10:56:56 AM
awwww
04/19/2003 04:49:49 AM
Technically perfect! Doesn't fit to the topic too well (even with the title), but I must admit that I would have submitted this picture too if I would have made it.
04/18/2003 10:21:31 PM
Would of worked so much better in this week Fauna challenge.
04/18/2003 08:20:43 PM
This is not weather, but its a great squirrel shot. Dang! you missed the fauna challenge.
04/18/2003 05:04:24 PM
Love the Squirrel!! Great detail and very good color. Score upgrade to 10. Rob the Swash
04/18/2003 04:52:10 PM
Absolutely wonderful shot! This is immediately going into my favorites once voting is done. Even the depth of field is right on.
04/18/2003 02:17:36 PM
Great photo. The colors are nice and sharp.
04/17/2003 01:40:25 PM
good job. nice pic.
04/16/2003 11:05:44 PM
love it, though weather isn't the first thing I think of when I see it! :)
04/16/2003 09:53:43 PM
bet you wish you took this for fauna. amazing capture.
04/16/2003 08:22:36 PM
nice idea displays weather very well
04/16/2003 08:02:34 PM
Wow, excellent composition, a very candid/relax shot of an animal, the image is so beautiful and its perfect for the current challenge. Please go back and re-shoot this animal and submit it for the current challenge.
04/16/2003 02:43:37 PM
I feel you knew this was a great photo and just titled it to try and fit the challenge. A weather photo should speak for itself. This doesn`t say weather to me.
04/16/2003 08:46:44 AM
This shot would have done very well in the fauna challenge!! Even a ribbon winner for sure, but that's life huh? Anyway it is an excellent image, well cropped and the shallow DOF does wonders for it.
04/15/2003 11:53:41 PM
nice. how'd you get so close to this squirrel
04/15/2003 09:41:10 PM
Hey! This is a great shot of the squirrel. This would be so much better in the animal challenge. Although the title says there's heat, I don't really think this applies to the weather challenge. He's so cute!! You would definately of won the animal challenge with this
04/15/2003 03:17:04 PM
So Cute. Great shot. nice focus. Streaching the weather thing arn't we? I would have added a simple white boarder.
04/15/2003 03:09:57 PM
beautiful shot
04/15/2003 02:34:10 PM
Very nice, any chance its hand fed that you were able to get so close?
04/15/2003 02:20:08 PM
doesn't really relate to 'weather' that much
04/15/2003 02:19:43 PM
While I really like this picture, I don't think it fits the challenge well. You should have showed us more about the heat. Therefore I will have to subtract a few points, which is hard to do as the photo itself is near perfect :(.
04/15/2003 12:05:54 PM
This would be a great photo for coming DPChallenge, Fauna. I love it and wonder how you were able to get so close to subject!! Squirrels in my yard are too energitic.
04/15/2003 12:02:03 PM
I think this is a great picture however, if it were not for the title I would not have made any connection whatsoever to the current challenge. I don't think a photo’s legitimacy, as a challenge entry should be based upon the title, just my two cents. Full technical marks for the shot, but the weather aspect if too much of a stretch.
04/15/2003 03:14:18 AM
Cute little critter. This is a good photograph (nice use of DOF, diffused lighting, nice highlights in the eyes, composition) but I don't feel it meets the weather challenge. I try to judge the merits of a photograph itself. If I need the title to tie the submission to the challenge, then I don't feel the submission qualifies for the challenge topic, which is the case here.
04/15/2003 02:39:09 AM
This photo would be better suited for this next weeks challenge. (Fauna). Well done with the shoot itself though.
04/15/2003 12:06:43 AM
Nice shot but it doesn't look hot there. :( I love this picture... it makes it hard to mark down. :)
04/14/2003 11:27:37 PM
He looks exhausted.
04/14/2003 10:48:55 PM
A very nice fauna photo! 6 md
04/14/2003 10:20:24 PM
This is one shot that should have been saved for the fauna challenge. It's such a cute and well done photo. You are really stretching by trying to fit this picture into this challenge. I would have voted a 10 had it been in the fauna challenge. That's how good this one is. DOF is great and the expression on the squirrel's face is priceless.
04/14/2003 07:34:43 PM
now I do love this....very good shot
04/14/2003 07:19:48 PM
Not much of anything to do with weather all you did was add a title...if I did not know any better I would have thought this picture was for next week...you get a 1
04/14/2003 05:27:33 PM
Lovely shot... this is SO cute! And different too!
04/14/2003 03:15:38 PM
Heat? Must be warm there.!! Darling shot.....really a great capture.
04/14/2003 02:28:54 PM
Fabulouos photo! I love the colors of the squirrel, the blurred background, the texture of the wood. The clarity of the face is excellent. I give your photo a 9.
Squirrels don't usually stay around long enough for a photo. Is he on the tame side?
04/14/2003 01:04:00 PM
I don't think it will win weather but it sure could have taken fauna! 9
04/14/2003 12:46:00 PM
This is a gorgeous picture, but it doesn't meet the challenge :( Sorry!
04/14/2003 11:56:59 AM
Great catch. Very photogenic subject.
04/14/2003 10:32:36 AM
Very cute.
04/14/2003 10:17:58 AM
This one would've fit the fauna challenge. Nice focus!
04/14/2003 09:10:08 AM
This is a great shot but it has nothing to do with weather... - setzler
04/14/2003 08:29:35 AM
This photo is a 10 but for this challange it is a 5
04/14/2003 07:53:14 AM
Great expressios you've captured on its face, good focus, very apt title. One of the very few animal shots I've seen that I actually like! 8.
04/14/2003 06:18:26 AM
Hehe. Fabulous entry for this week's challenge! Despite title (I don't like it when the title has to explain a shot's relevance entirely), I can't see this as a weather shot as the challenge is stated. Hope you can get another one for this week!
