Greetings from the Critique Club :)
Hi John...
Meeting the Challenge:
Wind is definitely a form of weather and I think you have chosen an excellent way to capture the wind in the form of a photograph.
Artistic/Emotional Impact:
I should start out by saying WOW. This is one of my favorite photos for this challenge. Why? Because of the artistic and emotional impact provided. This reminds me of some similar images I have seen in the past and it just 'pops' for me. The black and white choice really adds a strong element for me...
Composition:
I love the horizon tilt in this image... it's perfect. I wouldn't change a thing about it...
Technical:
I love the sharp contrast.
Keep up the great work :)
John Setzler

Fantastic. You show us both an action shot, AND the weather. I like the contrasts and off level point of view. Can I come next time? 10 |

I love sailing.. this brings back good memories for me. The diagonals here really create a sense of dymanism and movement. I almost feel as if I'm on the boat. The sky is a bit over-exposed but you capture the detail on the waves, rigging, and sail instead. Good job! 10 |

I like this shot. Maybe a little too dark, as some of the rigging and such is not clear. (9) |

What makes this shot great is how it's lined up level with the boat, not with the horizon. I love it. 10. |

You were lucky getting to go out yachting for this shot! You ended up with an awesome image depicting both strong wind and stormy skies (difficult to tell if the sky is blue of not in B&W). |

this is one of my top 3 of the week! I love the bw, and the composition cannot be improved upon in my humble opinion. The tilt really gives the feeling that we're in the storm. My only beef is that the boat itself is a bit too dark, but still - 10 - |

Great perspective drama. I'd prefer a lil less contrast for a lil more (textural) detail |

A little too much of a dark spot on the bottom, but you definitely get the feel for the wind. I love the sail and the angle of the whole picture. How you took a steady shot is beyond me. Good job! |

This is nice. Great perspective and the tilted horizon adds to its dynamism. Good use of B&W too. I'd suggest cropping a little of the dark stuff away at the bottom - perhaps to the lowest horizontal rope? Will make a nice print for sailing buffs. |

Cool picture! It's very dynamic, and clear. Aren't you worried you'll fall off the edge of the earth? |

Great light, good B&W, the tilt of the hoizon really makes me feel like I'm there, although more storm tossed seas would build that effect - good framing great shot. |

Nice. The wind, the sky, the clouds. Might suffer on the weather connection for some, but it works for me. Sharp, with good textures. |
