Congratulations on another ribbon! I was totally fooled by Philos31's image which I thought was yours... and when I voted on this I said to myself someone else is using Librodo's kind of light :D... lovely image. I particularly like how the net in the background adds to the picture, in another composition it might have been just an irritating background object but here it adds a lot to the picture. And an excellent light, as always!

The moment this popped up said wow and hit the 10. Each time I look I want higher numbers to give it. I love the rich colors, contrast, placement, textures (esp the background is outstanding), and the expression shows a depth and hardship of a free spirit. I am really in awe of people who can do portraits, it is a struggle for me to even point the camera at strangers. Would you consider writing up a tutorial for us grovellers? Esp on ways to make people comfortable and be natural?
Thanks so much for your inspiration!

I checked out the shots on your site and they are fantastic/ you have an unmistakable style. There has to be something to someone who takes portraits- you are not only taking pictures of people, but showing us autobiographical glimpses of yourself through the shots. absolutely great.

This challenge is very tough because a lot of people are expecting something from me. I ended up with the "yellow" and I am very very happy because I was able to ribbon. Choosing the right image was a difficult decision...I have some number of images to choose from.

I will post some later.

In the meantime, you can take a look at my Boracay pictures in this :

site

Thanks

Manny

Congrats on a beautifull picture.
As I said, it's kind of awkward to end up where I did and "steal"your ribbon.
But I have to say, it's been a rush. Thanks again!

This is a very librodo-esque image - terrific control of natural light, and the background is great.

Whoever you are you have a ten from me!

Now, we have an artist being photographed by a professional photographer, in my opinion anyways! What an excellent photo which conveys great emotion in it and great use of the background (something different instead of the plain color background). Hail to the master! ;-)

This is probably the best lighting and color tones I have seen in this whole challenge. Brilliant background choice and composition. I bet you'll be top 10 for sure if not a ribbon.

Good luck and Happy Shooting,

one of my top photos. i like the warm colours, lighting, subject and background, my only minor critasism is: the subject is positioned looking out of the frame rather than in which looks a little bit awkward, however I think you get away with this because of the quality of the photo.

04/24/2005 04:05:25 AM
Oooh... I just love this shot. The background seems to be as important, somehow, as the subject is, and the point where the two meet is right where it needs to be. The lighting and clarity are awesome - this is an absolutely stunning photo.

This looks like Librodos work. The shot is very moving and tells the story of the stereotypical troubled artist. The light is, of course, amazing and the way the detail of the background patterns and the pieces of tatoo come together is amazing. Excellent.

I can not find a single thing to change. This smacks of Librodo, but if you are not him, accept my apologies and take it as the highest compliment I can give.

There is so much to tempt the eye here it's amazing. Perfect 10.

The composition here is first rate, just wonderful. Post processing is clean and preserves the integrity of the image. Top right corner of his face is just a bit in the shadows but not enough to warrant any deductions. A solid 10. My pick for the blue.
