Thanks for all the votes and my second yellow ribbon.

I should have mentioned that this is a 30 second exposure. That's what has the water so still. I had originally had a full mirror shot with the light reflecting in the water, when it was suggested to me to crop in so it's just the dock. Thanks to moodville for that suggestion. It worked out well. Too bad I didn't realize the ever so slight tilt to the right ;-)

Wow Danny - this is a superb composition.
Congrats on yet another Yellow!
Slight tilt, makes no difference - Love it all the same!

I love everything about this photo except I'm severely bothered my the perception that this leans to the right...which it does, but just barely.

With that corrected, this would have received a 10 from me also.

Now, let me gush:

This is one of the creepiest photos I've seen, without being overbearingly obvious. It's what's not there that makes it bothersome. It's the implications that make it moody. As a soft portrait of a beautiful woman is much more effective to me than an erotic photo of her wearing next to nothing, so is this photo much more a display of tension and horror than any blood in the bathtub photo could ever be.

Great work...you truly deserved your ribbon!

Interesting. I don't know why though. I give you a ten without even knowing why exactly. Strange.

I love night photography. I might like this more as a horizontal (I like it anyway). I like the reflection, but could live without it (personal opinion), with a little more blackness on the left (may not be there anyway).

I think if you had cropped the image close and left the bulb out of the picture it would have added more mystery. Still a nice image of a very calm water surface

Nice shot, works well with title..... it also brings to mind the dock scene in Jaws (the two guys fishing from the dock). Good job!

Good exposure. I like the composition and how the light falls. The little bit of mist adds that bit of interest to make it good. A person on the pier might have worked even better.

Very moody shot. I must congratulate you to capture such lighting without help of any 'extra lights'. (At least that's what I think! ;-))

Love it. needs to be rotated just a little CCW, and the lights in the background need to dissappear.

This is comment number 2000. Thought I'd just mark that little landmark. And a very fine image to bring that up with too. There's a lot that I really like here too - the composition, the mystery, the sense of solitude, and space. it may onyl be a optical illusion, but there's a sense of the image being slightly tilted to the right that doesn't help the feel - even if it is an optical illusion, surely a touch of rotation to the left might have eased that sense? A beautiful shot, nevertheless. Top work.
