Hi everyone,

Thanks for the votes and all the comments.

It actually was not a difficult setup at all. This shot was about the 5th try or so. A 420EX flash with a blue gel was used as a slave flash to create the gradient. A friend poured the water and I just took a snapshot while he poured. The 125th second flash was fast enough to freeze the water drops.

Contrary to what some of you thought it actually was not an underwater shot like that of kiwiness. The blobs you see are the actual water drops, not bubbles.

Enjoy your day!
Rudi

Lovely composition. I like how the glass is off kilter and how nothing is square in this shot. Beautiful gradation in the backdrop.

Pretty, did it take a bazillion attempts? Nice background gradient. Very professional.

A nice hommage to 'Zero Spot Editing'. The slight tilt could have been fixed. Cool colour. 9.

beautiful, you must be a regular. lighting is nice, and the central composition is nicely helped by the splashing water.

oh god - very very clever, in terms of photographic technique - and probably almost impossible to vote down and therefore very successful here. I can just imagine it with the blue ribbon. I'm sure your captue of those flying droplets is exceptional ... in short, I think it probably took a great amount of work, and it does have a very pleasing and simple aspect to it, but...

It's so bloody designed. Controlled, non-spontaneous, non momentary, cold, emotionless, non-pertinent. I hate this kind of stuff - and were I able to shoot it, I would no doubt submit it myself. Lots of contradictory feelings, but in the end, not a kind of photography I like at all.

I'm coming back to this; I wonder if your use of that shade of blue, and the cocktail glass, will make it too close to a certain very popular shot of Kiwiness for people here? It'll be interesting to see how it does, very interesting.

Beautiful tones. Water drops near top of frame a bit hard to see against dark background, a little more contrast might've helped.

maybe "cocktail" -- that awful one with Tom Cruise -- would have been appropriate. I really dig the cool colors and lighting. Interesting how you've captured the motion, but the lighting looks quite soft. Perhaps a tutorial?

What a beautiful photo! So, the photo is spot on, but the wow-factor for linking it to Splash just doesn't totally do it for me. I really like it nonetheless, so I give it a 9!

This is a great image, the colours work well for me, and you have camptio the movement beautifully. I am however niggled by the glass being at a slight angle. A few bore degreess of tilt and I could believe that it was knoched by the impact..

Glass looks a bit wonkey. Very nice though and well chosen title. Was only look at Kiwi' shot yesterday funnily enough and it didn't occur to me (the title)

Good luck.
