The reason why I could not enter the mentored image:
The drunken penguin did not help either ;)

Yes, I know, it is pathetic and I was not going to enter but when I saw how few entries there were, I felt that I should enter anyway. Sorry about that, it did not do justice to Mary Ann's wonderful mentoring.
These days I very much prefer the Unreal Engine 3D world. I love to be in full control of props, lights, cameras and background. I can make changes so easily, just need some skillful guidance on how to create a beautiful still life :)

Mariuca's comment: "Very nice digital art, for commercial use. To me it is not a photograph but a photo image with enough filter application and knowledge to take it into a fake watercolor and gouache affordable financially in lieu of a real thing."
Are you saying I could make money on this?? Never thought of that! :)

And this about Monet's Impression:Sunrise:
"A preliminary drawing for a wallpaper pattern is more finished than this seascape."
Don't get me wrong, I am not an artist, I am just having fun with ideas, it keeps me sane in my retirement and during this horrible pandemia. But I do dislike strict compartmentalization of images by the technique employed. I don't like the narrow definitions of any technique, I do like the freedom of expression, no matter how the image was achieved, it is the result that matters to me.
PS In this case I don't like the result, the background was awful, I made some bad choices with some objects, the composition could be improved, the light was terrible. Ironically, my "unreal" still life was much better (in my opinion). But I know that 3D created images will never be accepted on DPChallenge so much dedicated to the traditional "digital" photography.
hey Margaret .. I absolutely love what you do to your photos and like you I don't care how an image is created but how the result touches me ..
thankyou so much for the 'backstory' I really enjoyed reading it .. and thankyou for sharing your software .. although I'm getting the feeling it's not an easy thing to master ..
