Serendipity at work. Beautiful, sticky snowfall blanketed the neighborhood. Before clearing the driveway I decided to see what I could shoot so I cleared just enough to get the drone up. I flew around for 15 minutes in overcast skies and everything was just sort of pedestrian so I brought it home to land. Just as I was landing the sun broke through. I had 5 minutes of battery life left so I aborted and put it back up and headed toward the sun. This is the best of 4 shots I got before the sun disappeared again.

Only "manipulation" was brightening the shadow areas since it was exposed for the sky, and applying color balance to get the warmth of the sun and the cold of the snow. Pretty much just Camera Raw and adjustment layers in Photoshop masking out anywhere an adjustment blew out highlights.

Right place, right time.

Great shot... interestingly as I viewed this on a small screen I accidentally 'cropped' to pano without the sky... it makes for a stronger composition IMO with the symmetry and the central house position holding the shot together.. shadows of the trees implies a low evening sun

Jake!?! Congrats on this beauty! Yea, except for the blown out portion of the sky, this really is magical.

It is shots like these that keep me wanting a drone - not that I would be able to capture something this wonderful if I did have one. Congrats on the red for this stunning photograph.

This looks too good to be true. If it isn't manipulated then you have one of the best shots I have ever seen in any challenge.
