Collection: Prints
Camera: Sony DSC-F717
Location: Cannon Beach, Oregon
Date: Nov 15, 2004
Aperture: F4

Shutter: 1/160 sec

Shot this on a "run" I took on the beach. I purposefully brought my camera with me. The run was ok, but as you can see, the photoging was exceptional.

Was going to enter this shot, but decided that I liked this one was better, and thought it would do better. I hope I'm not overusing this beautiful landscape, but I haven't used it in a challenge for over a month now. The color version can be found here.

Editing: Rotate, crop, grayscale, b&c, curves, b&c, curves, crop, mild neat image, b&c, size, usm.

This is really a great photograph. I love the foam zig zagging into the background. The softness of the back gives it an ethereal quality. Very well done.

One wonders how many good shots this beach has left in it. But I guess Monet spent the last half his life painting his garden at Giverny. (And years later it still looks good.)

Great shot.

Thank you all for your comments and votes. I am quiet happy with the 4th place finish, the score, the %100 =), and the final image. This is a message of God's glory and love transfered through my camera.

Congrats on your top 5 finish.
Not sure what it is that I sense a bit wrong, perhaps the far rock being a bit too centered for my tastes.
Great tonality & leading lines here!

Well done Thomas, I idn't get time to vote i the challenge but I like to look through the entries afterwards and, as you did with my entry, I recognised that shoreline as your handywork.

Great lead in lines from the waves, Haystack Rock is a bit central, might have been better compositionaly a bit to the right?

Nice cloud detail and misty shoreline, congratulations.

There're islands and there are islands. Top tones work well, bottom tones are too gray.

Zoomer --- great perspective here! I love how the eye is drawn from the foam all the way to the horizon. Well done ... i'm now going to try to convince my parents to move to Oregon.

Like the perspective used in this photograph. The wave foam leads the eye to the distant rock. Like the dof. The gray tone fits. Very well done.

Good idea with capturing foam. Pitty there is not more contrast in sky.

I think I have seen this place photographed before on this site. This -> www.dpchallenge.com/image.php?IMAGE_ID=108843 is the same location right? Anyway while this is far from being a poor effort it just does look so much better in colour, I gave it a 6.
