A girl holding a flag at a Fourth of July parade, and two images of a field of grass (one with an old car). The title is from an old Chevy ad campaign from the '70's. I know. I am dating myself, and many will not be old enough to understand the reference.

Thanks for the comments, favorites and thumb.

I really like this one, I thought it would finish in the top 5.

I agree with Mary Ann. This deserves to finish higher. Well done. (Of course, I'm old enough to remember the 70s...and the 60s,,,and the 50s....)

“Art is the stored honey of the human soul.”

I think this image is a sort of half way point between Sister Carrie and American Tragedy. Well done.

This is my favourite of the challenge, and by a handy stretch too. Against the depicted and merely cited patriotic iconography – the stuff of brassy celebrations, of tub-thumping and facile expression – you have juxtaposed a plainly-lovely, contemplative girl (could be a young boy I suppose; doesn't matter). And you've done it in monochrome too! Such wonderful contradictions, such absorbing counterpoint. A work of love and circumspection together. Patriotism for grown-ups, which is just what America needs at the moment. 10. Thank you.

::singing along:: That better not be an earworm! Interesting image, though it doesn't feel as upbeat as the commercials were. Maybe it's the facial expression. Intriguing, though.

Almost stamp like, the image has a great appeal. An American Joan of Arc.

Exceptionally done!

I love it how the Chevrolet isn't there at first... and then it's all you see.

Well done!!
