Thank you all for your comments.

Now, for the diatribe ;) :

I think it was a big mistake to allow advanced editing in this challenge. I think it should have been about making impressionistic images WITH YOUR CAMERA, not applying a canned filter effect to create a cheesy 'digital monet.'

I have to compete with THIS?!? I dunno if it's impressionism, but it's freakin' gorgeous. There's a little too much detail to match my admittedly novice understanding of impressionism, but the colors and composition are great. Should make the top 5 easily, if not ribbon.

Invitational Challenge Level: Experienced

Challenge link: medium/strong.

Image critique: Lovely composition and pose (she looks lovely too) but this does seem to be artificially blurred which looks a little obvious in places. Your saviour though is the compo and subject - both very strong.

Out-of-challenge appeal: nice pose and photo underneath blur. Like it.

Score: 7

Even if it's not, it looks photoshopped. All the motion blur lines are just too perfectly straight, for one.

I like the pastel and blur here, how did you get the bird so clear while the rest was so ethereal?

beautiful. I love the point of view and the muted colors. I was surprised to see so few portraits, but if this is one of the only examples, it is a fine representation of what an impressionistic portrait should be

Beautiful mix of slight motion blur and colors. It doesn't look like natural motion blur to me, however, as there are inconsistencies with what's blurred and how much, but it's pretty close, and effectively done. Choice of scene and composition are excellent. Very nice work.

Tyndareus would be proud of your represenation of his lovely wife. Great use of motion and the softness created with Leda's pastel garments. The textures of the masquerading Zeus adds to your wonderful modern impressionistic vision of this classic Greek heroine. -9-

This was a very difficult challenge to vote on. Impressionism is so very subjective.

For me, this piece effectively captures a transition from a hetic worldly life to a caring concentration toward a subject held personally precious. An excellent interpretation of impressionism imo and very well executed. Well done and good luck. 10.

returning for comment.:
This image appeals to me because I was commissioned the leda and swan, which of course was Zeus as he is also the bull in Europa. I would have prefered a swan without a table, but once we pass over this the image is just great. The pose, the angle is very creative and rather dreamy. The added effects enhance the romance even further. Bumping up on great artistic feel.

This photograph is my highest rated in the challenge, my only 10. It is beautifully lit and the post processing really enhances the photo by adding a sense of movement. Congratulations.

nice composition, lighting, and colors. the texture, though, feels somewhat artificial, and leaves me feeling as though i've had enough, rather than leaving me wanting to gaze longer.

oh- it's a swan - it looked like a snake at first.

Great piece of graphic design, but not sure this really says impressionist to me. It's more like a cartoon depiction of a Pre-Raphaelite subject. It's very nice but just doesn't look enough like a photo for my taste. 5

My winner..excellent colors and very good effect. Composition is also great with the angle going along with the stroke filter chosen. 10.

8 - Good colors and pose. I think the blurriness gives it an unreal quality.

Beautifully arranged and colorful. You have captured an Impressionistic feeling and have input your own ideas and originality. The filter adds to the softness of the moment. Just a very lovely picture.

Awesome. Another great Masterpiece from this challenge.

I'm back to comment more. I do portraits, and have been dabbing into this kind of stuff, but this is truely masterful. I can't really see how anyone could not rate this a perfect 10. Plz keep giving us such beautiful things to help keep us inspired.

Very engaging, entrancing image. The use of motion blur (?) works okay. The composition and colors are marvelous and your point of view is genius!
