Back to look again at your photo.
First because I spelled angle wrong.........LOL..........
and second because I wanted to see the metal-rust in the sunlight again. I found it interesting the first time. It still is. Good work.

thank you to those people who noticed the bushes at the base of the pic. I'll pay more attention to my cropping in future!

Must be a really short dog ....
05/05/2002 09:54:00 PM
Nicely done. Great colors, framing, composition, etc. I think I woulda made the street lamp's pole parallel with the side of the image though, that's all.

Amazingly clever shot. The lighting, textures, colours, all perfect... got to be one of my top scorers.
05/05/2002 02:10:00 AM
great lighting

Chihuahua? I love this! 10.
05/02/2002 06:45:00 PM
Clever photo - clever title.
05/02/2002 03:31:00 PM
Very clever interpretation of the theme.
05/02/2002 12:55:00 PM
excellent detail! also love the contrasting colors of metal and blue sky. high marks from me

delete light pole

Very original. People might complain about the barrel distortion of the lamp post, but I think it adds to this shot, good choice of fire hydrant too, one of those flashy red or yellow ones would not have worked as well

Nice color and texture.
05/01/2002 01:00:00 PM
Makes me want to go to the washroom. Great angle on this shot, I love the color / lighting of of the hydrant and the sky looks nice too.

GREAT perspective!
05/01/2002 11:08:00 AM
Funny caption. Nice colors and clarity. Would've preferred it w/out the lamp post.

One of 5 subjects I had taken photos of. Fire hydrants always seem to look good from the ground up and I like the silver one here.

Couldnt make my mind up whether I would have left the light in the photo or not. I could go either way. Anytime you add another subject into what is basically an inanimate object portrait shot you risk losing emphasis on the main subject.

None the less, I like this photo

Very nice color and contrast. It would be boring without the lamppost - good decision.

What imagination. You have taken a very common subject and brought it to life. Your exposure is darn close to "dead nuts". The sharpness of the subject is awfully natural. Did you use a polarizer to knock down the glare on the plug and darken the sky? In my mind there are many technical difficulties to overcome to achieve this exposure, in particular the bright exposure of the fireplug while not overexposing the sky. Good job. Keep it up!

Not much happenin' in your town, huh? Cute idea though, a real dog's eye view from the ground up!
04/30/2002 07:03:00 PM
I considered this shot too. (I got bored waiting for a dog to come along :)) Unlike most shots that have a pole of some type in them your belongs. I like the imperfections of the finish of the fire hydrant. Good contrast.

ha ha
04/30/2002 04:19:00 PM
Nice!

Nice photo! Very well done. I would like to comment a little on the light pole.. this is an interesting optics problem that is hard to solve... i had similar problems shooting a lighthouse a while back... These tall pieces like to bend in the photo... Good shot!
04/30/2002 08:28:00 AM
Interesting colors, angel.
04/30/2002 07:57:00 AM
That's a great photo. Love how the angle of the light makes the letters pop out more.
04/30/2002 03:05:00 AM
Great shot..and I really like the title..
04/30/2002 02:00:00 AM
I really like everything about this shot.. a very origional idea.. and you execute it very well.
04/30/2002 12:26:00 AM
neat! :)
04/29/2002 09:11:00 PM
Great perspective here. I even like the barrel distortion, makes it look surreal.
04/29/2002 08:00:00 PM
very interesting take on this.....I like it a lot
04/29/2002 07:00:00 PM
I like the composition and title of this pic. Well done...A dog's life indeed...
04/29/2002 05:38:00 PM
that is one tall hydrant
04/29/2002 03:02:00 PM
nice framing and composition -- if I HAD to add a little criticism, I would have cropped it the tiniest bit tighter on the bottom to get rid of the tree tops (?) down next to the hydrant
04/29/2002 02:58:00 PM
Interesting........Didn't see any "urine" stain, except some rusty parts which could be due to weather ?
04/29/2002 02:21:00 PM
Heh...
04/29/2002 01:22:00 PM
great photo
04/29/2002 11:38:00 AM
Well composed, the lighting really shows off the texture and rust of the fire hydrant. Like the dark blue sky, did you use a polarizer? Nitpicky comment: there is such a small amount of a tree/bush/something just to the left of the fire hydrant at the bottom of the frame, could it not have been cropped?
04/29/2002 10:59:00 AM
as crazy as it seems i had the same idea but didn't go through with it. you did a good job.
04/29/2002 08:43:00 AM
Clever!
