Halfway Down

Halfway down the stairs
is a stair
where i sit.
there isn’t any
other stair
quite like
it.
i’m not at the bottom,
i’m not at the top;
so this is the stair
where
I always
stop.

Halfway up the stairs
Isn’t up
And it isn’t down.
It isn’t in the nursery,
It isn’t in town.
And all sorts of funny thoughts
Run round my head.
It isn’t really
Anywhere!
It’s somewhere else
Instead!

Huge thanks to my wonderful son and incredible husband. This staircase/window is in the Wren Building at the College of William and Mary. It's an incredible stairway and window -- I really wish it were mine. Because it definitely would be the place where I always stop.

Thanks for the wonderful votes and so many nice comments! Not sure where this will end up, because there are some truly great images in this challenge. Well done, everyone!

Really well done and contrats. I gave it a 7, and I not only know the AA Milne poem but can sing it from a memory of 60 years ago from a David Tomlinson album. Funny, actually, when I can't remember what I did five minutes ago.

One of my favorites of the challenge -- maybe my favorite. I love the black and white, the ascent of the steps and leading lines of the rails and banisters, the light, the pose. Perfect title - go Milne! 10

I love this photo because a) it is a great shot with mood, wonderful light, interesting leading lines and the beautifully framed, silhouetted figure,
and b) because it reminds me of a photo my brother took of my two small daughters 30+ years ago. He won a photo competition with it, so I hope you do too :-) 10 and a fave from me.

Wonderfully framed; both the person in the window frame and the use of the stairs leading the viewer to the person. The lighting fits the challenge subject well. Well done, just starting, but my favorite so far.

My first thought was Harry Potter. LOL I feel like I'm in a library. Reminds me of the stairs at our State Capitol building too. I like the high contrast.
