Here we go! Remember to post your shooting settings and some narrative on how you got the shot. Sharing techniques as we go along can only help us all.
So... who are the people in your neighborhood? |

So, I feel like I'm cheating already, but I know it's not possible for me to get out at lunchtime for the rest of this week due to work, so this is one I took 2 weeks ago.
A second shot, but I wasn't happy with the background even though I liked the couple.

Day 1: The one that got away. I passed a great subject this morning and just couldn't bring myself to take the photo. I even had a brief, friendly conversation with the person (encouraged by Pawdrix's example), but then couldn't make that leap to "Btw, would you mind if I take your photo?" Kicked myself all the rest of the way to my office. Oh well, maybe I'll see something interesting tonight.
Back to your regularly scheduled posting. :-) |

This was taken in New Orleans on a bright and windy day. I took this with an 18-70mm lens in the conventional way. Taken in color, processed to BW. Did a crop to better isolate the diners. I feel it probably would've been better to get a closer shot.

October 1:
... and the same image (nearly):
EDITED to rearrange the above, because I (too) think I like the b&w better than the color. :-)

For the record, I try not edit my images much except for a few tweaks here and there and some color play, that I enjoy. After that, what you see is what you get. I shoot and live with whats in front of my lens as is (within reason). So any alterations.nit picky..."shoulda", "this would have been better if..." kind of suggestions, will fall on deaf ears. I LOVE comments...LOVE comments. Just not that stuff...not interested. As I see it, my imperfections are absolutely perfect. I own them...they are part of me. Cheers.

Well, I hadn't anticipated being unable to shoot again today, but there ya go. Pouring with rain and a very hectic day with no time to go walkabout. So, forgive me for another Rome pic.

Day 2:
It occurs to me that I love candid photography, but only when I see something that grabs my attention. Walking around last evening I took a bunch of candids of things that didn't truly interest me much. Ended up using this shot from a couple of days ago. |
