I had hoped for a stronger image to kick off this side challenge, but this is what I got. I prepped it for the September Free Study but then changed my mind.

I caught this off the hip last Friday. I actually turned around and went back, as my first attempt "missed."

I'm experimenting with cross-processing here. In regular color, it was kind of drab, and in black and white, kind of flat. I think the subject matter is funky enough to stand up to it.

Great earthy colors, grainy texture and the angle gives impact to this very unusual shot.

Shooting from the hip often yeilds some very run results, like this one. I like the expressions you caught - and that's half the fun of street shooting!

Very cool. I really like the shoot-from-the-hip shots that come out well like this one did. Added to the interest of the angle are the great expressions you have captured. You can feel emotion and business in this one. I also like the cross-processing PP. That is one of my favorite treatments.

The processing works very well. What an expression on the gal on the right!!!

Very impressed at getting this all unbeknownst, and at the angle. Processing seems to fit.

Luck of the shot. I would have liked it not so intense.

Cross processing is an old darkroom technique of using the wrong processing chemicals to produce wild (but predicatable) color variations. It can be simulated in digital image processing, though this isn't the best example of it. Check out this tutorial.

Thanks. I see it primarily in the right lady's shirt. I struggled with that. Noise reduction only seemed to make it worse, so I left it.

Works well for a candid. The heightened colors and expressions
do get the viewers interst. Did you purposely try for that slant
angle or was it just the result of shooting from the hip?

those are some characters - the strong colors, the cockeyed angle to place the ladies heads at different levels works together - the pixelation from your processing is a bit troublesome for me though

I like the angle of this shot and the high contrast effect - I like how this photo tells a story ( are these two ppl mad at each other? if so why? ) nicely done.

Such expressions! Interesting if not exactly flattering. :-)

A little blown out in places, but for a candid that's not so bad. The colors work for me.

Lady on the right looks a bit grouchy. Definitely works.

Quirky indeed and love the work you did on the colours!
