Yesterday was dreadful at work. Hopefully today I'll be able to catch up on comments. Keeping these flower shots on my screen at work gives my eyes a nice break (& sometimes I can think of something to say). |

Maggye, this is a very quick n dirty B&W edit of your great orange flower. If you have CS3 you have a great tool for black and white work. Here are two fast and not particularly good examples (directions on the iamge)

The Insert Thumbnail tags only work with images hosted here at DPC. For linking to outside photos, you need to use a combination of URL and IMG tags, and to have the URL for both the full-size and thumbnail images at the remote site.
There are further instructions in the Forum Code How-To Tutorial (under the Learn menu). Do not insert images wider than 500 pixels into a forum post; use a text link or preview image instead.

To answer a few questions reguarding this shot. These are the entire flower. They sandwich the stamens between the two heart petals, during the day they open up just enough to let a bee or other pollinator in. After a day or two they fall off.
The flowers hide underneath large fan shaped and polka dotted leaves. The background is a plate of turquoise with crazing in the glaze. The vinietting is the color variations in the plate. I did burn a touch to one corner to even it out.
I wanted to give the impression they were floating on a deep sea.
The focus is way off for me too. I was hoping to go to the park to get some flower shots but got wrapped up with something and missed the golden hour. The sun was going down so fast I was running out of light. Its on ISO 400 which tends to be REALLY noisey so Im surprised its not a lot worse than it is.
