Just saw this thread. Can I play too? I needed to have a little reprieve from side challenges for a few months, but I think that I'm ready to play again. Layers are so fun, and this looks like a great group. :)

I followed Roz's tutorial. It wasn't as hard as I had imagined.

Just stumbled across this thread. If its old photos then I might be able to participate. I'm working full time at the moment and its the middle of winter here. I'm going to try for every second day but try and comment on all images :)

Today's offering:

original
final

took the original and increased the image size about 1/4 inch all around.
(i.e.: from 9.079 x 6.904 to 9.5 x 7.4)

On the new image, selected out the shell and to the rest, applied slight lens blur.

Superimposed the original to the new image and adjusted opacity to something interesting. (instant zoom)

Erased edges where the shell overlapped.

I got the idea for this from reading about the Orton Effect, where you superimpose images (of the same size), and one image is treated to a blurring effect. I haven't tried that yet, but will soon, probably.

For those of you who are new or newer to the overlay addiction, there are many places where you can get cool overlays for liberal use. One of those places is right here in our Texture Library.

You can use these textures, but also post your new textures there for others to use.

I revisited an image I took a while ago and used a texture from the excellent tutorial by Roz... her favorite I think. Lots of grain and neat image and not to everyone's taste but I like it.
