only 30 entries?
03/27/2004 06:38:50 PM · #2
Yup. Not such a hot subject after all. Also, really puts non-DSLR uers like myself at a distinctive disadvantage. Not participating in this one.

Don't get the disadvantage... there are multiple techniques that could be used for this challenge, most can be done easily and with nice results form a non-DSLR.

At least 33, LOL. I think I actually have an entry, we'll see if I like it enough when I get done with the editing.

Seriously, given 32 entries on Saturday evening, I'm thinking this might be the first challenge in a while to stay below 100 entries; the last non-speed challenge to get <100 submissions was "after dark", Jan 5-11, 2004

the entries have genreally been low up to sat since the advance editing rules came into play. I think 2morrow will a resurgence in the number of entries. I have an idea, a non dslr & I plan to shoot 2morrow to able to submit b4 the deadline.

With my non-DSLR, I came across my shot by accident : )

39! Just entered mine. :)

I entered mine a few days ago. I know it will be in last place because it is unique. :-))

I can't seem to come up with anything worth submitting... all my motion blurs look like mush.
I'm frustrated. I really want to participate.

I entered and will probably get marked down for it being too cliche.

I'll probably get marked down for being too weird.

That happened last time.

I'm getting out there and doing something that will be very unique, but hopefully pleasing. I have some good panning of cars, and people, and bikes, but originality will be key....although there is only going to be 50 submissions.....

This challenge seems to be the most difficult one, yet.
I'm having a hard time getting a good crisp photo and motion blur at the same time. Everything showing motion blur the best looks like digital art! I might have to skip it and ask for tips after the challenge.

I know this may be stupid questing #13245333 but:
Could your subject be motion blurred (like a car going past a sigh or a bike) and the background be stationary? Or does the background have to be blurred and you subject in focus (like some of the examples that have been posted)? I don't think it is since there is only talk of blurred backgrounds, but I'd thought I'd ask, any ways.

mines gonna win! or at least i hope... it took me forever to get the part that i wanted sharp, still, and the part i wanted blurred, blurred right. LOL, my mom and dad had to stand there holding lights, and papers to reflect/diffuse.

I'm guessing an average 30% percent for me as seems to be the case. Maybe a bell's curve can give a little oomph to our scores. This should be very, very interesting. Up to 77 submissions!

100 entries with less than 1 hour left.

I don't think it matters. As long as there is some blur because of motion it fits the challenge.
