I lost 5 pounds this week. yikes.

it was a busy, busy week physically, so that had something to do with it.

also, the first week of anything I tend to go "overboard" and will probably level out at a pound or so for the next 12 weeks. :)

Disappointing week for me. I had lost down to 283.6 on the 7th but didn't plan my meals out the way I should the next day and it showed. But I did end up with a 1.4 lbs weigh loss for the week.

04/02/2008 287.4 lbs 37.3% BI 39.8 BMI
04/09/2008 285.0 lbs 36.9% BI 39.6 BMI -1.4 lbs

this morning - 153
That's down 2 pounds. Can't complain about that! :)
I'll take it as I can get it!

Another opinion from 'Ol Mouthy here.......the gradual watching can be demoralizing.

I know that when I weigh myself every day, I get disgusted 'cause I generally see little or no results.

And.....the outset of an event such as this can do the same thing.

I wasn't showing any weight loss 'til this morning, and being down about three pounds this morning makes me inherently suspicious.

I checked it three times, though.....

Point is, I don't get too happy until the drop seems to have taken after a couple of measurements over a week or so.

I'll check Monday to see where I am on the index.

Kudos to everyone who is aboard here!

ETA: Scott, ANY loss is good.

You go, girl!

A pound a week won't cut it to stay ahead of me, though!

(Cue slapping sound as another gauntlet hits the deck!)

Well, I'm down -8.3!!

To be fair, I'm diabetic and my DR just put me on my first oral medication for it. Up to this point I had been diet controlled. So, this thread couldn't have come at a better time. Hopefully, when I take off the weight I won't have to be on the medication any more.

I must also say, tracking on Weight Watcher's and all your ideas about eating when you go out were extremely helpful!

We know you lost all that weight dancing with glee about your Blue!

Congrats, Terri!

Thats a great weight loss in one week. Did the doctor put you on Glucophage (Metformin Hcl)? Did you know that some doctors prescribe that to people for weight loss. I didn't know that until my doctor told me a few visits ago. I'm also a diabetic and have to take 2 a day @ 500mg each.

NikonJeb a quick question for you. I have always been fond of soda and sweet tea. I do like water and try to drink it often but it's not my choice because my mind wants that sugar rush. I don't know if you liked soda or sweet tea before you started you weight loss program. If you did HOW did you curve your craving for those. I don't eat sweets and I'm not a snack food person. I only eat 2 to 3 meals a day. Being a diabetic I have to maintain a good BSL. Any suggestions?

I'm not Jeb, but I was a Coke fanatic (up to 4/day). Since I started Weight Watchers they require you to drink at least 48 oz. of water per day ... guess what ... I NO longer crave soda. In fact I don't think I've had 6 since I began the program 16 weeks ago. And that first week I dropped a whopping 7.2 lbs. (due for the most part, I'm sure, to the elimination of soda). The only time I ever have it now is when I go to a restaurant. I think most restaurants have water that contains a metallic taste. Sometimes I even take my own bottle of water with me now. Oh and one last thing ... if you really need a taste to your water try Crystal Light packets. I put one in the my 32 oz. water bottle and it is a very light taste, but gives more flavor than regular water.
Good luck.

Yep, Metformin 2x500mg daily. I had my DR's appt a couple of days before we started. I was diagnosed over two years ago. Didn't know it helped with weight loss...did know, however, that my DR wanted me to lose 30lbs by the end of Aug.

According to WW, if you have difficulty drinking all the water and are a soda junkie...try putting some Crystal Lite in your water. It helps get it down and fools your head into thinking it's getting some sugar.

Woo hoo , it's Friday and I'm down 3 lbs. I haven't been watching what I eat, I just started working out more (I don't really eat that bad anyways, I'm one of those weird kids that ate their vegetables!). I walk at least 3 miles a day, 300 situps and between 10-15 minutes on the bowflex

I weighed in and I'm down 2.4 pounds.. I was honestly so stuck at the weight I was at, it seemed like it's been a month since a pound dropped off..

So, here's to hoping for any of us stuck in one spot, that this challenge has jarred something loose !!! My new mantra is:

NO PLATEAU'S - NO PLATEAU'S - NO PLATEAU'S !!!

I'm not NikonJebeither, but I quit drinking sugar drinks a year ago because I had a cavity. I love Coke Zero, to me it tastes so much like regular Coke. Those Crystal light packets are good. If you shop at Wal-Mart, beware of their brand, I tried it once and it tasted like yuck. I could really taste the artificial sweetener. If you drink coffee, Splenda has these new flavored packets that are really good.
I warned my mom for years that she was going to become diabetic if she didn't get off her lazy butt, no one ever listens to me! Now, of course she is diabetic. I know she lost about 10 lbs in the first couple of weeks after being diagnosed. Her Dr. put her on the south beach diet. She didn't like it very much, so she started going to the free classes that the dietician gives and she now counts her carbs. She said at one of the classes the dietician put 16 sugar cubes in a glass and asked if anyone would want to drink it. Of course everyone said no, and she told them that was the equivelant of a can of soda.

Sheer force of will and determination....I am SERIOUSLY hard-headed! LOL!!!

I could drink a 2 litre bottle of Wild Cherry Pepsi in one sitting.

That is/was one of the hardest things I had to deal with......I do drink water, a ton of it, and for a treat, I drink San Pellegrino with lime for flavor.

I did find that after a while the craving for the sugar rush went away, but I won't kid you that it was easy.

Now, I don't care for soda/sweet tea 'cause it's just too sweet.

Weigh in:

5/2 217.8 lbs. | 32.2 BMI
5/9 217.1 lbs | 32.0 BMI - 0.7 lbs.

Ugg - this is what you call statistically insignificant. ;)

Could have been worse. The bike I have been riding to work daily has been in pieces all week long (just in time for the Bicycle Challenge). But it's all back together now, so next week watch out.

I love pasta.. :P I'm surprisingly blubbery in places I shouldn't be. I started at 208 and what's left is in unsightly areas... just trying to recapture the golden age of 22 again. :/
