Death of a Farm....

[thumb]635626[/thumb]*****[thumb]635618[/thumb]*****[thumb]635609[/thumb]

The property sold, bought, and subdivided for housing; the barn carefully dismantled for the lumber for that "Farm & Country Ambiance".

Another piece of rural Pennsylvania beauty crumbles to the onslaught of civilization's encroachment on Nature.

yikes I need to catch up!!

Here is day 18: Britain's Got Talent

Yes, Britain's Got Talent was here last week and long queues of aspiring contestants could be seen outside the palace thEATRE. I don't have any day pictures but when I took this picture in a rainy and windy night noticed that either the maintenance crew failed to check the luminous sing or the management is just too cheap. Same as the Hilton Hotel that now reads 'ILTON!!!!

Time's been a bit short today. All we seem to have achieved is buying some paint and some filler to tart up the bathroom and some plants to put outside the front door, yet it's now evening time and I seem to have had no time to myself all day. On that basis, just a cheap shot for today. This is a quick shot into our 'fridge. There is some food in there, honest. I'm sure that most of it is in the bottom drawers, which are out of shot here.

Day 19:

Manchester runs three free bus services in the City Centre connecting the Train stations. For us this is great since the bus stops across the street and take us quickly to the shopping mall I will show next, it would be just a 20 min walk but hey!! it was raining.

You can see the PALACE HOTEL at the back(they did pay the electricians) which is a Manchester landmark! I just learned today that in old times it was owned by an insurance company called REFUGE.

Today we did a little surprise party for Mom's 93rd birthday. She still lives by herself, so we had it at her house.
I was surprised that the group shot turned out so well with existing light, and 1/2 sec exposure. The flash didn't fire when the batteries quit, and it turned out to be the best of the set.
I got to the river just a little late to get the best of the sunset, so it's sort of blah by comparison.

I will catch up with comments as soon as I get a little time. Thanks for being patient everyone.

well, yesterday's trip more than made up for the BIG boredom of today, sitting around on call...thankfully no emergencies and I am still cozy & warm inside.

The Badlands is such an amazing place..it seems to go on forever!

I have been feeling a bit piggish about posting more than one photo per day for a couple of days so I am placing this image from November 2007 to show how bad I feel.

Yet another view out of our office window today. At the moment, it's all flooded, with more rain to come this week.

Day 20 Shopping Mall

This is a shopping mall in Market Street, Manchester. All the surrounding area is good for money spending or window shopping. I like it because when I am inside I feel more like in Mexico, all the usual stores. Kind of!
