Because you can't really have an OOBIE for out-of-the-box thinking in a Free Study, where there is no box to begin with. This might better go int he "posthumous" thread, maybe...

My nomination prior to Shez's nomination is also a Free Study... I think judging something "out-of-the-box" doesn't have to relate only to the challenge topic, OOBIE can also just be a photo that challenges the viewers idea of what a good shot is. Shez, just sent you a PM... |

Well, I should have said "easily", I was responding in a hurry. Regardless, this is just a flat-out GOOD image, not really OOB in any way, and that was my point.

And I do agree with you, on both sides of that point. :) |

I just wonder if MelonMusketeer has ever been considered for a 'Yappie' award.
Lately I have seen so many of his comments left on many images from many DPC members.
He had made more than that what has been given to him, so that will give you some idea of his commitment.

Here is a comment made by Waddy MelonMusketeer on one of SandyP images.
Woo Hoo! Sandy, you have been holding out on us haven't you! This is just awesome. Beauty fades, but character does not. I'm wondering how you managed to get such perfect light for this? Great, and congrats!
Another comment on one of my images. Simple and to the point.
This has wonderful colors, and just enough softness to make it seem a little abstract, like a painting. |

Excellent, Shez, thank you! That makes the third nomination since our last Yappie vote, so these three guys

move on to the voting round. Stay tuned!

nomination for the Yappie...
one of the best comments I've come across in a long time:
"My gut reaction to this is quite different than the comments made so far. Your use of a long lens has the expected effect of compressing the well-seen light, resulting in a visual feast, but, more importantly, it has given mother nature a boost in perspective, and apparently her intention is one of reclamation. The building has almost completely fallen to the approaching mountains, and despite the plea to "STOP", the transformer's destiny has been determined. A rather uplifting photo."

Nomination for Yappie - possibly even a lifetime achievement award - for CNovack. For documentation, go read her comments given. Very in depth, very informative. She puts a lot of effort into her comments - entire paragraphs in many instances - and offers suggestions for improvement along with what she likes about a picture. Anyone wishing to improve his or her commenting would do well to spend some time really reading what she writes. |

I nominate by Colorcarnival, from the Overexposed challenge, for an OOBIE. Overexposing the subject rather than the background was quite the opposite of most if not all the other entries. And the effect is stunning. |

I think cutout might be going for the OOOBIE (often-out-of-the-box) someday... |

I second the nomination...
Here is the comment he left on my image
As she rested her head, and gazed into the morning light, her thoughts wandered as a child's are wont to do. From the joys -- a moment playing with Scruffy the dog, the kiss her mother had given her before bed, her daddy coming up the walk after work each day -- to the little traumas -- the skinned knee, that mean boy at school, the death of Petrie the budgie.
With each thought came a subtle change of expression, as the tempest of her mind brought her through the miniature storms of emotions that accompany the whirlwind that is a forming conciousness. At the end, however, a small and subtle smile played upon her lips, and a light came to her eyes, and the world was good and right.
If only for that moment.
