It seems like you can rarely go beyond the DPC border here, if you do something artistic or "different", you are burned because of it.

Are you saying that most of the time the top 20 photographs in every challenge are not artistic?

No, of course not. Maybe I meant to say "artsy" or different than your traditional or ususal photograpy.

Oh yes! That was one of the best photos in the whole challenge. I was so surprised that it did not place higher. I have only voted in one challenge and my scores tended to be stingy but this one stood out spectacularly. In fact, I called one of my kids over to have a look at it. In many ways it represents the best of what photography can be - in the moment captures that reflect some truly human endeavour.

Quite frankly I'm suprised mine did as well as it did! I was afraid it would be "another boring macro." Thanks to everyone who liked it enough to comment!

I wish I had gone back through and double-checked my votes, I think on a second look I'd have given that parachuter a higher score. At first glance it looks blurry, but then I realized the silhouette is quite sharp, and the picture has a "dreamy" look to it.

I'd agree there were a lot of great shots in this challenge and it would be hard to rank them all on my own.

You and me both, I'm thrilled with my placing and thanks joannadiva for pointing it out in your comments. I'll have to tell the story of Tweety and the boots someday.

I am curious how "The Red and The Black" was done within the editing rules, but there's no details on the shot. It does say 1/20th of a second, so I am not sure they could have "swirled" it in front of the camera. It looks like a distortion filter (aren't those disallowed?)
