For me it'll be because this is my first shot at 2 6+ scores in a row. :)
Which would be a very nice way to pull out of a run of several sub-5 shots recently.
Edited to make it clearer my run was below 5, not 4s and 5s. 5s don't bother me.

This is definitely the common wisdom but for me that only seems to apply to entries that start out in the 5s. For me when it starts out in the mid to high 6s or 7s the pattern is a slow steady drop throughout the week with sometimes a slight boost at the end of the week when votes get tossed. I've only had one entry recently that bucked that trend and that was the HDR challenge however that got 300 votes which is about twice as much as I normally receive in challenges.

I'd say you're doing just fine to pretty well.
I took 4 challenges to get a score that high, and another 4 to do it a second time.
Looking at your first entry, I'd say you're on your way. A little different composition and editing, and that shot would've done much better. :)

OK, maybe I've bottomed out now. For the first time today, the score was just a teensy bit higher than the last update hit.

In the past few hours I've gotten 3 - 3s, a 2 and a 1. That is NOT normal voting patterns for an image which is averaging well over 6, in my humble opinion.

Ok, I'm confused. . . How do you know what scores you're getting before the end of voting? Is this just another feature on the site that I'm missing, or are we doing advanced math on the average vs number of votes? (I'm a Nuclear Reactor Operator, not a rocket scientist. :) |

Its math. I have it set up in an excel spreadsheet. But basically its:
(current score divided by # of scores) minus (next current score divided by number of scores). I can send you the excel file if you PM an email addy.
