Honestly TOO many to even recall..
I used to work in the Merchandise industry (selling t-shirts and other trinkets at shows) and so i've seen about 75% of the bands that have come through Seattle and other at the Gorge Amphitheater for the past 2.5 years. A lot of big bands and a lot of smaller guys too. Dreadful industry depending on which side you work. But it was primarily fun whilst i was apart of it.

I'm jealous. |
hahaha....really??? Of all people.. he did put on a good show, but actually Max Roach was the star for me. |
Roach was no slouch, but I'm partial to Buddy Rich -- he led a hard swinging big band with top notch soloists. He had excellent arrangers working for him too. Good stuff.
I won't bore everyone with all the jazz and opera stars I've seen. Top of the list, respectively, would be Herbie Hancock and Stephanie Blythe as Aida (I performed on stage with her). I've also met two famous American composers in person -- John Adams and Philip Glass. I have pictures of Glass that I'll be developing soon...
Among the best rock shows -- I saw Paul Simon, twice, when he was touring Rhythm of the Saints, and once with what's his name.
I also saw Skynyrd when they played LSU (Baton Rouge) in 1991. It was their first show since the plane crash fifteen or so years earlier that claimed half the band. They were en route to Baton Rouge, so that's where they kicked off this reunion tour. Very cool in that they not only honored tickets from the ill-fated show that never took place, but also reserved the front row for these people. I'm not a huge Skynyrd fan, but I went with a couple friends who wanted to go, and it was a damn good time.

My family started me early with folk music at festivals. The first I can actually remember the name of is Reilly & Maloney. Fairground crap like Weird Al. Then I went astray...
Motley Crew (It was $15, why not. My friend fell asleep on my shoulder. Good times.)
Melvins
Tool (Couple times. First time great, second time sucked)
Veruca Salt
Clutch (Multiple times, cuz they're awesome)
Soulfly, HED(pe), dayinthelife and StaticX (Strangeland Tour. I went for Snot, but they didn't show. Soulfly was great though.)
Agents of Oblivion (Awesome side project of Dax Riggs from Acid Bath)
Insane Clown Posse (Roughest concert I've been to. Those 16 year old Juggalos be crazy! I left torn, bruised, and sticky.)
Kidney Thieves (Terrible live...)
Tapping the Vein
Type O Negative (Walked out)
Sky Cries Mary (Awesome)

Here I am resurrecting a nine-year-old thread. What you probably don't realise is that I log onto DPC specifically to keep my gigs list updated! |

I'd have to talk about the three most memorable. B.B King, in a small venue here in my small city.....the place wasn't even full. He came out onto the stage with Lucille and a chair and he sat down to talk to us. He thanked us for being there stating that he'd be nothing without us.
I was completely blown away by his humility, and then, his magic.
I saw the Greateful Dead the one and only time they came through. I always loved their music and had a lot of their albums, but I simpkly wasn't into that whole traveling everywhere to follow them thing.
So the one and only time I saw 'em, they came to me. LOL!
Lastly, and most memorable was in 1982 when a friend of mine suggested we come with him to see this guitar player he liked. Small local county fair thing. The stage, such as it was, was small and maybe a quarter full.
The guy wasa simply amazing, unbelievable....pick your superlative, and was just the opening act for another band.
After they played we went back and shot the breeze with the guy and his band for about a half an hour just being thankful and enjoying meeting......Stevie Ray Vaughn & Double Trouble.
My ex and I have a pair of York Fair tickets with Stevie Ray Vaughn's autograph.
Pretty cool, if you ask me! LOL!
