Ask Art Roflmao he would know ... |
Here's a quick & dirty process:
- Mask an area on a new layer about the size & shape of the blood pool
- Fill it with a dark red, but not too dark
- use the liquify tool to push "drips" down (if you don't have a drip filter)
- Double-click on the layer to bring up the blending modes and select Bevel & Emboss. Tweek the height & other settings until you get a nice even puddle & droplets.
- Merge the bevel effect by creating a new layer, linking it and CTRL+E to merge - this applies the bevel style permanently basically. There may be another way to do that but I haven't found it.
- Now use dodging and burning to get the lighting and texture you want.
- You can erase parts of the pool to modify the shape a little, but if you are putting it over an angled surface, use skew or free-transform to adjust to match the angle of the surface.
- Then muck with it a little here & there til you're happy with it.
Sorry I don't have time for a pic-tutorial. Someday I'll put some stuff together. Problem is whenever I have sat down to put a tutorial together I realize I don't really know what I am doing - it's mostly experimentation. But there are specific techniques for achieving certain effects.
Anyway - hope that helps someone who wants some blood in their photo. ;-) |

I've got Day 9 ready. I'll probably be a few days behind throughout the challenge. Still I'll get there.

Okay, my day 8 and 9 are up. I've actually had day 8 done since tuesday, but Erin had to encourage me to actually upload it. I've figured out that I'm lousy at making a mean face, our roomit told me that I just look sad. I'm not sure she was talking about my expression :/
day 9 - what up Judy.

| Hey Cindi - what remote do you have for the 30D? Since I only have a remote for the Rebel, that's all I've been using. Might it be fun to see what the 30D can do above and beyond the Rebel's capabilities? |

Not a SP...I'll get that later today. But I had to post this one, since I'm borrowing a friend's D70.

This is what we have too. I love it but I wish I had the cooler one that does time lapse. |
